        How to have an English reading class for Senior High students

        【Abstract】 English reading class is the main way to train students reading comprehension ability, and it is also the main carrier for students to learn new knowledge and consolidate the old knowledge.

        Reading teaching can improve students comprehensive English ability. Then, how can we effectively improve the reading comprehension ability of senior high school students through classroom instruction?

        1.Preparation before class

        Different from junior high school English reading classes, senior high school English reading classes should pay more attention to the cultivation of students interests and abilities. Therefore, in the reading class, in addition to ensuring that students have enough time to read freely, students should also be required to read aloud, and briefly retell the main idea of the article. At the same time, students should be encouraged to tell or act out what they have read in front of other students to increase their sense of accomplishment.

        2.Leading-in

        This step is a key point in the whole class, a turning point from peace to excitement. The topics introduced? should be the ones that both the students and teachers are interested in or know about, so as to arouse the resonance of students and teachers, shorten the distance between students and teachers, and lay the foundation for creating a passionate, active and harmonious classroom atmosphere.

        3.Reading for understanding

        This step is the main part of the whole class, and the operation of this part directly relates to the overall effect of the class. We should be in line with the principle of students as the main body of the class, and the teacher plays a leading role to implement the teaching of this class.

        Here I would like to introduce some methods that I think are effective:(1)Listening to the tape .Through the two steps of review and leading-in, students has reached a relatively excited degree in class. We must make good use of this excited state, and effectively transfer this excitement to the text, so as to make the active class temperature down. (2)Fast Reading .After listening to the text once or twice, ask the students to read quickly by themselves to know what they dont understand, which can deep the impression of the text. Fast reading is very important, because students will not have enough time to analyze the text sentence by sentence in the exam, so we must train their ability of fast reading.(3)Intensive Reading.Intensive reading is the main body and the central task of the reading class, but there isnt a conclusion on how to operate the intensive reading. Some teachers would like to give all the knowledge they know to students, which would kill students interest in learning English, let alone improve learning efficiency by students interest.(4)Detection.After the intensive reading, we can test the effect of students reading by asking them to answer some questions about the content of the text, or by asking them to retell the text, which not only gives the students? ?opportunities to exercise, but also can raise the tension of most students again.(5)Analyzing key and difficult points .The key and difficult points are generally the grammatical difficulties encountered by students in the intensive reading of the text. We can learn from crazy English methods by explaining in the form of sentences, consolidating in the form of sentences, and practicing in the form of sentences, so that students can always understand the use of grammar in sentences.

        4.Practice

        In the last few minutes of this lesson, make sure that students do a few exercises collectively or by oneself. The exercise does not have to be too much nor too difficult, just to consolidate what they have just learned.

        5.Homework

        Homework should be arranged to choose interesting story subjects with moderate difficulty, which is conducive to the cultivation of students interest; With the improvement of ability, the selection of materials should be more extensive and practical. In conclusion, as high school English teachers, we should give full play to the role of reading teaching, cultivate students good reading habits, and lay the foundation for students lifelong development.
