        淺析農(nóng)村高中英語詞匯教學(xué)現(xiàn)狀及應(yīng)對策略

        【Abstract】Vocabulary teaching is regarded as one of the teaching difficulties in Senior high school English teaching . How to remember and use vocabulary well is very important for a senior high school student in learning English .So teachers should pay more attention to master efficient, interesting and easy-accepted vocabulary teaching methods for students. Recently, I have made a research about present situation of vocabulary teaching in rural senior high school .According to the research, I have done a summary and reflection and come up with many ways to deal with this situation to help students who have difficulties in learning English.

        Ⅰ. Introduction

        Nowadays, English has a very large number of learners and the vocabulary of English is very complex .Based on this situation, more and more English teachers turn their attention to vocabulary teaching gradually. In order to get to know the situation of English vocabulary learning in rural senior high school students, I have designed such a questionnaire and this questionnaire survey has been conducted in more than 20 rural senior high.

        The survey result

        1. Most students do not master good means of learning, Remembering by rote makes them only remember the words sound, form and meaning, so they always forget words in a short time.

        2. Students have not formed a good habit of learning, so they can not review the words in time and they usually forget the knowledge they have learned quickly.

        3. Students methods of remembering words is single and they do not know how to use association memorizing methods .

        Ⅱ. Students problems on mastering English vocabulary

        Many students, especially male students, have difficulties in learning English .According to the analysis on the reason why they have difficulties in learning English, our teachers can make a conclusion that vocabulary is their main problem. Different students may have difficulties in different aspects .However, their difficulties can be classified to two major aspects as following:

        2.1 The lack of learning methods

        Many senior high school students did not master proper and efficient learning methods in remembering and using words properly. The aim of vocabulary teaching is to help students use words properly, to express whatever they want .To make them remember words quickly and use words properly, teachers ought to make them master good learning methods.

        2.2 The phenomenon of forgetting words is common

        We can not remember every word once and for all because we may forget it after a certain time .The phenomenon of forgetting words is very common among senior high school students .Almost all the students have such feeling that they would forget some words and expressions with which they were familiar last week .

        Ⅲ. Efficient teaching methods

        Generally speaking, the aim of English teaching is to help and encourage the students master English as quickly as possible .Teachers should not only provide fundamental knowledge for students but also make a series of proper learning methods for students.

        3.1 Pay attention to sound and form

        For most students, remembering words is a hard work . They have to remember both the words form and its pronunciation .But if they can find the connection between the words form and its sound, they will find that it is not so hard a work to remember words.Whats more, they may feel excited about remembering words as it is much more fun by finding the connection of its form and its sound.

        3.2 Help students master vocabulary by introducing word formation

        The expansion of vocabulary in modern English depends chiefly on word formation .There is a variety of means being at work now .The most productive are affixation, compounding and conversion. As long as students know the meaning of the affix, he may guess the meaning of this word according to the affix. So, teachers can focus on the introduction of word formation, especially affixation as words produced through affixation constitute 30% to 40% of the total number of the new words.

        3.3 Advise students to guess words in context

        If you come across a word you do not understand, then you can not spend a lot of time working out its meaning because you do not have much time while you are at an examination. Therefore, guessing meaning from context is necessary .To improve students abilities of guessing words, Teachers can explain some methods about guessing words according to context.

        Ⅳ. Conclusion

        Generally speaking, the teachers attitude toward English vocabulary teaching is good .They can use various methods in vocabulary teaching in a flexible way .But there are still many problems existing in English vocabulary teaching and learning.In the last part of this paper, I have put forward some practical suggestions for English teachers and senior high school student. Hope all of you may be benefited from it.
