With the reform and opening up and internationalization， English has become the main language of international communication， and more and more people pay great attention to English learning. However， in the actual learning process， many students are lack of interest in English learning.In this paper， I take my personal experience as an example to discusses how to cultivate the interest of English learning and to improve the efficiency of English learning， as a result， to realize the change from “want me to learn” to “I want to learn”.

Firstly， explore learning skills to improve learning efficiency

Many students always have difficulty in reading， writing， listening and speaking. At first， I also had the same difficulties. However， after a period of thinking and reflection， I found that if we can find the rules of it， we can learn it much easier. For example， during the process of learning vocabulary， I find some useful learning methods：

a. Recite words according to the pronunciation

In English， most of the words follow the rule of pronunciation. For these words， we can recite the pronunciation firstly and try to spell the words according to the pronunciation.

b. Recite words according to the root

Many complex English words are made up of root and affix. For these words， we only need to remember the root and try to learn the related new words with the help of the root.

c. Recite words with associative memory

In English， many words are similar or opposite in pronunciation， spelling or meaning.For these words， with the method of associative memory， we can recite several related words at one time.

In a word， Discovering the rules of English learning can make our study easy and efficient.

Secondly， try to learn English with active attitude

Once， I took English learning as a torture and took passive attitude to it. When i try to learn it actively， I find I make it more interesting and efficient：：

a. Preview before class

In order to learn English well， I try to preview. I read teaching materials independently to get a general idea of the key words， the grammar phenomenon and the main idea of the text；I search through the Internet， read reference books， and discuss with my classmates to try to figure out what I am not so clear；I draw a circle on the key points that I cant solve by myself and pay great attention on them in class.Through the active preparation， I find that English is no longer so difficult.

b. Take active part in class

I In class， I answer the teachers questions carefully， read new words loudly， discuss with my classmates actively...Anyway， I try to learn English happily and actively.

Finally， Change learning methods

For a long time， I can not understand the fun of learning English.Now， I try to change learning methods to experience the pleasure of learning.

a. Join English club

With the encouragement and support of teachers and parents， I participate in English club.Here I do everything I like with my friends. We sing songs， play games， give speeches...We can not only learn English here， but also can enriched after-school life.

b. Experience the cultural atmosphere

English is not only a subject， but also a culture. In my spare time，I read English newspapers， chat with English friends and watch English movies to experience English cultural atmosphere. I find that the more I learn about English culture， the more I like English learning.

In short，English plays an important role in international communication. As a high school student， we need to recognize the importance and urgency of learning English， and try to change our attitude on English learning from “want me to learn” into “I want to learn” .
