        [A. GLOBAL WARNINGS

Changes in the Earths climate have been taking place ever since life first appeared. Its a fact that our planet is becoming hotter and hotter.][B. POLLUTION

Pollution has been around for a long time. The frightening thing is the rate at which its increasing. Car fumes pollute the air that we breathe, especially in the city. Factories not only pollute the atmosphere, but they also affect the water in the worlds lakes, rivers and seas. ][C. ACID RAIN

Trees and animals all over the world are dying because of acid rain. Believe it or not, acid rain is man-made. Cars and factories produce a lot of dangerous gases which enter the atmosphere.][D. RAINFORESTS

Almost half of the worlds remaining tropical rainforests are in South America. They cover an area of three million square miles and are home to over one million species of wildlife.][E. ENERGY RESOURCES

95% of the Earths energy comes from oil, gas, and coal. These are known as “fossil fuels”, but they are not going to last forever. ][58. Polluted water can kill animals and cause diseases, while the pollution of the soil from chemicals can seriously affect wildlife.??? ][59. Since the 1970s the destruction in this area has increased greatly. Trees have been replaced by farms, buildings, and roads.][60. People have realised this and have come up with alternative sources of energy, such as nuclear power, wind and water power, and solar energy. ][61. This is because pollution traps too much heat in the atmosphere. As a result of this, the air becomes drier, the ice at the poles melts and sea levels rise.][62. There, they mix with water. When this mixture falls back to the ground, it harms not only people and wildlife, but also buildings.? ]
