        On the Effects of English Subject Education in the Construction of Campus Culture

        【Abstract】The construction of campus culture has a huge impact upon the growth of students. Excellent campus culture is able to benefit students throughout their life. So, how does the school construct excellent campus culture? In the point of the authors view, it needs the teachers of all subjects to pay attention to, so as to enrich the connotation of campus culture by teaching and promote the development of subject education through constructing campus culture. As one of the main subjects, every English teacher should think about how to use its own cultural influence to promote campus culture construction.

        1. The promoting effect of English subject education in the construction of campus culture

        1.1 Cultural exchange promoting prosperity

        English teaching is not simply the teaching of English knowledge, but also a kind of multicultural learning. The reason why we pay attention to English and learn it is not only for the learning of a language, but also for the understanding of foreign campus culture, humanistic culture and various cultural connotations. This culture is different from the examination paper culture, which is invisible and untouchable. It regards English culture as one of the manifestations of campus culture, which can strengthen the students cognition of collective consciousness, strengthen the restraint in the collection, and creates a good campus cultural atmosphere. In English learning, students are the subject of learning. Our English teachers need to inspire students subjective initiative through guidance and cannot regard English as just a language subject, ignoring its cultural components. In this way, students will become the tool of English learning with low enthusiasm for learning and weak sense of collective honor and disgrace, which is not conducive to the construction of campus culture.

        1.2 The necessity of the construction of diversified campus culture

        At present, Chinas campus culture advocates the construction of diversity, and the traditional campus culture is not particularly suitable for the current students. In the past, we advocate the idea of obedience, high marks and doing exercises, but certain changes have taken place in the construction of campus culture through our cognition and understanding of foreign education. We begin to gradually pursue the liberation of students individuality, the liberation of innovation consciousness, and the construction of cultural cohesion, which is also an important reform brought by English subject to campus culture. In the past, we closed our doors and did not learn the advanced technology of the west, which had led to China suffering from the humiliation for more than one hundred years. Therefore, at present, we must be able to strengthen the construction of campus culture, be involved into multi-culture, and integrate the cultural talents of various regions into the construction of campus culture. Only in this way can we better improve our education system. In particular, English, as a basic language subject for communication with the outside world, is of great significance to the construction of campus culture. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the construction of campus culture through the innovation of English teaching.

        2. Some suggestions for improving campus culture in the English subject education

        2.1 Organizing classroom activities and arranging the construction of campus culture organically

        In English teaching, teachers can organically introduce the construction of campus culture into English teaching through reforming teaching modes and innovating teaching methods. In language teaching, teachers can transmit the campus cultural concepts and cultural significance to students, so that students can develop the good qualities such as seeking truth, being practical, being earnest and so on. Meanwhile, the English teachers can organize English literary performances around these qualities, enabling the students to use their existing English accumulation to edit a simple story about reflecting good quality, and perform it at random in class. This can enrich the contents of English teaching and attract the interests of students in English learning on the one hand, on the other hand the students can learn good campus culture and improve themselves through these interesting classroom interactions.

        2.2 Improving the overall quality of the campus through cultivating the students personal qualities from the detail

        In English classroom teaching, the teachers should pay attention to strengthen the cultivation of students personal qualities from the detail. Only by making every student excellent can the whole campus be excellent. Never allow one student to influence the good habits of other students.
