        淺議英語(yǔ)閱讀教學(xué)策略與方法

        An English teachers knowledge reserves, the theory of language and the teaching method, have greatly influenced the students strategies formation of English reading comprehension. How to train students the ability of getting the information for a given time, with the good habit in intensive reading and extensive reading. How to obtain the necessary social experience, current events and politics, science and technology culture. How to cultivate their ability of reasoning, analysis, logic and imagination. How to use of existing strategies and reading skills to lay a better foundation for higher English reading. These problems are the ultimate goal in teaching reading, both teachers and students.

        I.Transition the concepts of teaching reading comprehension

        Teaching reading comprehension is not purely out of reading materials to impart knowledge is not a word or sentence. It is final purpose not to read the new knowledge in the material. Reading is a skill, and is an instrument. The students understand the world through reading. English reading play crucial roles of learning foreign language in their lives, while they are junior high school students. In English teaching, if teachers only analyze the reading material single, the students will read as a symbol of printing. The only premise of reading articles is the structure the words. Whichever material taken with a pattern, chewed and digested, weighted every word, from above to below, and from words to sentences. Even lead some students “heading into a blind alley” in some grammar structure. The teachers should pay more attention to training students ability of reading and understanding, especially the ability of actuating correct information, the effective solution of various problems in reading.

        Ⅱ.Cultivate the good habit of reading

        At present, the English teaching in many schools, some teachers are satisfy for the demands of the examination, many teachers keep on the reading activities overall planning, only focused training, and ignored the reading techniques of instruction. This kind of modus operandi is wrong, the teacher should constantly remind students they are the language learners while reading, instead of the examinee in the examination. A good language learner often derives pabulum by the greatest extent or degree from the finite material, with the appreciate mentality participate into the reading. He/She knows will pay attention to key points in any place, where should be read carefully or skimming. The teacher in teaching reading should be as a "pilot" and to prevent students lose their orientation in the lots of exercises. It is the English teachers responsibility to correct the students bad habit in reading. A good reading habit is an effective way to improve their reading speed and comprehension. Most of junior high school students reading speed are slowly, and cant understand the main idea of the article by themselves. The teachers have to spend a lot of time explaining to the provisions to complete the teaching task. Therefore, a good habit of reading is more important to students. A good habit of reading could increase the reading speed and reading comprehension effectively, and let the students participate into the teaching activities.

        Ⅲ.Choose good reading materials

        The texts in English books have always been regarded as the main ingredient of reading. However, it is hardly enough limited to the textbook, students must through abundant reading increase their comprehension. Therefore, choosing material becomes an important work. Whether provide a lot of quality reading material, directly affect the English teaching. The good material should be not too difficult or too easy, no too much new words and complexity sentences, the materials should be hold on such a principle: students are "not too easy to do" or "too difficult cant do". The difficulty materials for students, easy to dampen the enthusiasm of the students to participate in reading, and not cultivate the confidence of the students. The easy article make students feel smooth, cannot get the effect of reading. Therefore, the teacher should choose the language materials according to the students practical level. For the difficult words and sentences, students should according to the content and context of material, making a reasonable inference.

        In addition, the selection of reading materials should also be: a material terms ensure that the expression used in possess, avoid using the "English word, the Chinese flavor". The second is to use interesting and close contact with reality life and the public, stimulate students reading desire with materials intellectual, revealing and practicality.

        Ⅳ.The strategies of guessing the words meaning

        In ordinary class, the teacher used to teach English vocabulary or let students learn vocabulary first, then the article, this is a mode of teaching. While reading in native language, people dont always read each word; when faced with new words people couldnt terminate the reading to find out the words meaning. As in English reading, it is need not to learn all the words, but presume and conclude from the context and knowledge, from the view of reading strategy, should guide the students to guess the meaning.

        The chief method of guessing meanings is "presume". Such as from the explained terms of speculation (if that is; that is to say; for example); also by comparing to guess, common synonym for the trademark word is like, or, similarly; common antonym words: yet, but, unlike although, not, but, instead of etc.; and from the forward and backward sentences.

        Ⅴ.Cultivate the speed of reading

        The speed of reading for junior high school students is live up to 50-70 words per minute. In order to let the students reach and surpass this requirement, teachers should guide the students training reading skills as follow.

        First training skimming, the main purpose of skimming is to understand the purport of articles style, to hold the structure of essays. The reading skill is sure to hold different styles, and according to their characteristics to understand the purport of the articles, paragraphs, and find out the topic sentences. Understand the basic structure and the central figure of essays as soon as possible.

        Next training is scanning;the main purpose of scanning is to find some specific information,to solve specific problems.Scanning is based on skimming.After skimming,approach to a certain understanding and get certain information,then with questions to find out the answers.

        Ⅵ、Extracurricular reading

        Extracurricular reading should be the complement of the class, as an important part of reading, could get experience and extensive knowledge, and it is more effective in reading. By repeated cycles, the level of reading will gradually increase; knowledge and experience will also become rich. In English reading of the formation and development, students must read extend to extracurricular.

        More extracurricular reading, the more words and phrases are familiar with, the reading more speediness. Extracurricular reading should be according to plan, emphasis and phases, hierarchical with read, write, listen, read and the variety of activities. Readings should be the rich and varied, the way of reading change according to the types of literature.

        Conclusion: New course standard of English point out that, cultivate efficient reading skills is the most important way to improve the secondary students communicative competence. Therefore, the teacher should understand complex mental process of reading from various points. Moreover, with observe analyses through interviewing with students. In order to provide more effective, proper strategies for teaching reading comprehension.
