一、“Seem (to be) + n.(作表語)”,此結(jié)構(gòu)中的to be可以省略,但名詞前一般有形容詞修飾。例如:
Tom seems (to be) a very clever boy.
His father seems (to be) a kind man.
She seems to be an American. (to be不能省略)
二、“Seem (to be) + adj.(作表語)”,此結(jié)構(gòu)中的to be也可以省略,但如果后面是afraid、asleep、awake等表語形容詞,則to be不能省略。例如:
She seemed (to be) tired.
The boy seems (to be) honest.
These girls seem (to be) very happy.
The children seem to be afraid of the teacher.
三、“Seem + 介詞like和in引起的短語”,seem like表示“看上去好像”,seem in表示“看起來處于……狀態(tài)”。例如:
The English-Chinese dictionary seems to me like an old friend.
They seem in high spirits.
The girl seems like a happy bird.
① The moon seems to change its shape.
② I seem not to be able to make him happy.
③ They seemed to be eating something.
④ I seem to have caught a cold.
I don’t seem to be able to make him happy。
五、Seem與代詞it連用,構(gòu)成“It seems/seemed that...”句式。該句式相當(dāng)于“從句的主語 + seem to do”。例如:
It seems that the baby’s temperature is all right.(= The baby’s temperature seems to be all right.)
It seems that she is thinking.(=She seems to be thinking.)
It seems that they have been on the earth thousands of years.(=They seem to have been on the earth thousands of years.)
六、“It seems/seemed to somebody that...”
It seems to him that he would never be able to work out the problem.
It seems to us a good chance.
It seems to me everything is all right.
七、“There seems/seemed (to be)...”
There seems (to be) no answer to the question.
There seems (to be) a mistake in these answers.
There doesn’t seem to be too much hope of our team beating theirs.
八、“It seems + as if從句”,as if引導(dǎo)的從句是表語從句,有時(shí)從句的謂語動(dòng)詞用虛擬形式。例如:
It seems as if he knew nothing about her.
It seems as if it is going to rain.
It seemed as if they would marry in the end.
該句型也可說成“It looks as if...”。例如:
It looked /seemed as if he would have nothing to take home to his wife and children.
