I’ve been studying in Texas AM University for more than a year and I’m getting along very well here. Now I’d like to tell you the procedure of my application process, which might be of a little help to you.
In the third year of my college at Shanghai University of Electric Power, where I was granted the first prize of Excellent Student Scholarship three years in a row, I finished the two important exams—TOFEL and GRE, with marks of respectively 108 and 1450. When it came to the university application, I asked my parents whether I should turn to the intermediary agency for help. They advised me to do it by myself saying that since I’d passed the exames successfully and I would study abroad, I should be able to do it well by myself. I agreed with them and got down to it .
First of all, I searched the Internet for the information of universities ranking from 10~100 and chose about twenty of them. Then I did more research about the universities and decided to apply for ten of them.
Approaching the end of the fall semester of my fourth year, I received the first offer for direct PHD from University of Alabama with a fellowship of 35,000 dollars per year. After that, seven more offers came to me continuously, including University of Michigan—Ann Arbor, University of Southern California, University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. After considering various aspects—location, ranking, funding, cost and so on, I finally chose Texas AM University.
Now I am in my second year towards a master degree and I plan to graduate at the end of 2012.
