推測(cè)與確信是人們的一種思維活動(dòng)。不管是對(duì)過(guò)去發(fā)生的事情還是對(duì)未知的將來(lái)，也許人們會(huì)作出一定的推測(cè)或確信，那么怎樣使用好表示推測(cè)與確信的日常用語(yǔ)呢？請(qǐng)看本期話(huà)題Supposition and Belief。

一、常用表達(dá)

1. No one can predict what will happen in one million years. 沒(méi)有人能預(yù)測(cè)到，過(guò)一百萬(wàn)年后會(huì)發(fā)生什么。

2. We can only guess what would happen to her if she went there alone. 我們猜想一下，假如她單獨(dú)去那里，她會(huì)發(fā)生什么情況。

3. Just imagine if there would be a big storm， what should we do？ 猜想一下，假如有一場(chǎng)暴雨，我們?cè)撛趺崔k？

4. It’s impossible to predict there would be a big earthquake tomorrow. 預(yù)測(cè)明天有一場(chǎng)大地震，那是不可能的。

5. It would be wonderful if someone jumped into the valley. 假如有人跳進(jìn)大峽谷，會(huì)是很精彩的。

6. It would be bad for their eyes if the children often watched TV too close. 假如孩子們經(jīng)?？措娨曁瑫?huì)對(duì)眼睛有害的。

7. —It looked as if there were no more fish left in the river. 看來(lái)河里沒(méi)有魚(yú)了。

—I guess the pollution around must have been badly serious. 我猜一定是周?chē)h(huán)境的污染太嚴(yán)重了。

8. —It would be impossible for him to open a computer firm. 他不可能開(kāi)一家電腦公司。

—I guess he must have been short of money. 我想他一定缺少資金。

9. —I guess that he is about 40 years old. 我猜他大約40歲。

—In fact， he is only 30 years old. 實(shí)際上，他只有30歲。

10. —Your group has better players for the English contest. 你們組有更好的選手去參加英語(yǔ)競(jìng)賽。

—It is likely that our group will win the first prize in the contest. 我們組可能會(huì)在競(jìng)賽中贏(yíng)得第一名。

二、對(duì)話(huà)演練

A： Hi， Mike. Do you often take exercise， such as running？

B： Yes. I think it is good to do this.

A： Now I really find that you are a regular runner. Perhaps you guess running is good for your health.

B： Well， I think so. The best thing is that it can keep your health for a long time.

A： But some doctors suggest that people over the age of forty shouldn’t run.

B： Oh， I suppose it’s up to you. No doubt quick running will make you exhausted. It might give you an instant heart attack.

A： I imagine so.

B： But on the contrary， you can keep your heart and lungs in good shape if you keep running slowly.

三、對(duì)應(yīng)練習(xí)

（一）根據(jù)對(duì)話(huà)內(nèi)容，選擇符合對(duì)話(huà)內(nèi)容的選項(xiàng)。有兩項(xiàng)為多余選項(xiàng)。

A. Is it good？
