        1. Analysis of materials

        This is the fourth teaching period of this unit. After learning the whole unit, the students have mastered some useful and vital words and expressions needed in writing a letter of proposal. After this lesson, not only can the students master how to write a letter of application, but also they can deepen the understanding of their career planning.? To lay the foundation of writing, ensure the students to have words to say and know the basic structures of writing a letter of application, the teacher should present the necessary various materials step by step.

        This teaching period mainly deals with Writing, let the students know how to write a letter of application. After knowing about some recruitment information, analysing? Tompersonal strengths, matching them perfectly, observing one sample writing? and discussing about the useful expressions and structures, the students are required to write a letter of application and have a clear understanding of their future career planning. Students often feel writing challenging and difficult, so it is necessary to make the class interesting and creative and also connect it with their daily life in order to make it easy to accept and understand. Firstly, the teacher create the situation by asking the students to finish a task entitled Help Tom, present? Toms problem . Secondly ,present some recruitment information and Tompersonal strengths, ask the students to match them, help Tom find the most suitable job and map out their future career. Thirdly, ask the students to pick out useful words, expressions and structures needed in writing a letter of application by observing a sample writing. For example, the structures used in the beginning, the main body and the ending as well. Finally, ask the students to write a letter of application according to the given situation.

        At the end of the class, present some students writings and ask the others to analyse and score them.

        By grasping how to write a letter of application , students can map out their future career.

        Ensure the students to know related words and expressions about job application.

        →Step 1 Greeting and Goal-presentation

        Greet the students as usual and tell them what we will learn today. ( Blackboard: letter of? application )

        →Step 2 Leading-in by creating a situation

        The teacher shows a picture of Tom, in which Tom is worried:“ I want a job. Help me!” Teacher presents the situation on the screen: Tom will graduate this June and is hunting for a job. There is several recruitment information but he cant decide which one to apply for , please help him out.

        →Step 3 Speaking

        The teacher presents some recruitment information and Toms personal strengths and then asks them to? help Tom find the most suitable job by matching the job requirements with Toms personal strengths.

        Encourage the students to speak out their opinions, using the given structures: Personally speaking, job A is suitable for him because....

        As far as I am concerned,...

        It couldnt be better if Tom apply for....

        Considering Toms strengths, I recommend...

        →Step 4 Observe & Find

        The teacher presents one sample article and then ask the students to observe it and find out the structures, useful words and expressions used in a letter of application.

        II. The structure of the main body

        The teacher gives the students 5 minutes to discuss in group and then invites some groups to state their opinions. After that,the following will be presented on the screen:
