Hudong Heavy Machinery Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

On October 19, CSSC Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. (HHM)held a celebration in Shanghai for the 60th anniversary of engine making and the cumulative diesel engine output exceeding 50 million horsepower. At the same time, the unveiling ceremony of CSSC Marine Power Industry Museum and the CSSC Marine Power Summit Forum were held. Taking this opportunity, HHM comprehensively reviewed the development course and brilliant achievements of the 60 years'hard work, and at the same time firmly established the strategic goal of building the world's No.1 marine power equipment manufacturer.

HHM was developed from the engine making workshop set up in 1958 by the Hudong Shipyard.Through hard work of generations of machine builders, it has developed into a world-class marine power equipment enterprise that integrates research and development, manufacturing,testing and service. As of 2018, total diesel engine output has exceeded 50 million horsepower. Now, HHM is focusing on marine power science and technology innovation and product research and development design, cultivating innovation ability, stimulating innovation momentum, and creating the world brand of "CSSC ocean power". It adheres to the combination of introduction, digestion,absorption and independent innovation,promotes relevant, appropriate and diversified development in the field of products, and explores a new model of intelligent manufacturing while focusing on building global service capacity of marine power products.

On the morning of the same day, HHM solemnly held the opening ceremony of the CSSC Marine Power Industry Museum, which is the first museum with the theme of marine power in China, and will soon start construction.It is reported that the museum, with the theme of “unlimited ocean power,bringing the world closer”, will include relevant historical documents and cultural relics, including memorabilia of the history of Chinese engine making development. It will truly reproduce the footprint of China's modern shipbuilding industry and ship-power industry, and show the glorious course and future blueprint of the CSSC marine power.

On the afternoon of the same day,the CSSC Marine Power Summit Forum was solemnly held. The forum was devoted to three sessions -- research and development, manufacturing, and service, and invited industry experts from shipping companies, shipyards,ship design institutes, marine equipment manufacturers, classification societies, and universities and colleges to discuss the future of China's marine power.

The Research and Development Forum took “Development trend of ship power technology driven by regulations” as the theme. Innovation is the eternal topic of ship power. The introduction of environmental protection laws and regulations has stimulated the market-oriented operation mode and led a new wave of emission solution upsurge. Experts at the meeting said that the backbone enterprises of ship power represented by the Hudong Heavy Machinery, key scientific research units and institutions of higher learning,major ship power equipment suppliers and shipowner users should pool their strength to jointly build a platform for the innovation and development of ship power, promote the industrialization cooperation of key technologies, form a joint force for development, unify the concept of cooperation, and establish a win-win model, thus promoting a qualitative leap in the R & D and innovation cause of the Chinese ship power.

The Manufacturing Forum took“Building the shipbuilding industry ecosystem based on the Industry Internet” as the theme, the experts discussed the cooperation of the industry supply chain and the joint building of the shipbuilding industry ecosystem based on the Industry Internet. Representatives of domestic backbone shipyards and marine equipment enterprises shared their own intelligent manufacturing cases, and authoritative experts from the aviation industry interpreted and predicted the development of intelligent manufacturing in the future. “Each leap in the HHM history is accompanied by the rise in the level of information technology of the company.” Qiu Chunhua, HHM deputy general manager, said at the forum that, standing at a new starting point in history, intelligent manufacturing is the only way HHM transforms and upgrades its manufacturing to service-oriented manufacturing.

The Service Forum took “Technology leads the development trend of modern service industry” as the theme.Representatives from shipping companies,ship-repair companies and oil companies exchanged views on how to innovate technological means and business models to enhance ship management and repair services. CSSC Marine Power Technology Service Co Ltd is the only marine power equipment service platform in the system framework aimed at promoting the transformation from production to service enterprises. Andrew, general manager of CSSC Marine Power Technology Service,expressed the hope that cooperation among users, producers and suppliers of marine power equipment will be further strengthened to make their respective advantages complement each other and jointly meet the needs and challenges of ship power management.

On the same day, CSSC Marine Power Technology Service Co., Ltd. and Cosco Marine Engineering Technology Service (Dalian) Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, both sides will give play to their respective advantages of products, technology,brand and service, jointly expand the marine diesel engine and turbine maintenance services in the Chinese market and even in the global market,and provide more complete product life cycle protection and comprehensive services for Chinese shipyards and shipowners who have their ships built or repaired in China.

That night, HHM held an evening party “Inheriting Glory for Infinite Innovation” to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Engine makers and HHM babies performed a group dance “60-year Flourishing”, male voice group song “We are Different”, peacock dance “Good Luck and Happiness”,opusculum “Foolish Wisdom”,martial arts exercises “No Pain, No Gain”, shadowboxing performance“Blue Sea Dome”, opusculum “Our HHM, Our Love”, poetry recitation“Set Sail for Glory Again”, chorus“Our New Era” and other programs.In the happy atmosphere of birthday song and cake cutting, the celebration of the 60th anniversary of HHM ended successfully.
