From November 2 to 4, the 2018 Xiamen International Ocean Week Fair for the Transformation of Marine Science and Technology Achievements, with the theme of“Building and Sharing Together to Promote the Sustainable Development of the Ocean” was held at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. Exhibitors covered marine ship and high-end equipment manufacturing industry, sea water comprehensive utilization industry, marine hightech service industry and so on.The Chamber of Commerce of Fujian Shipbuilding Export Base and the Fujian Shipbuilding Engineering Society each first participated in the exhibition in the form of independent booth, which covered the shipbuilding enterprises and the scientific research and design institutions in the province.

During the 2018 Xia men International Ocean Week, more than 100 maritime enterprises and institutions from all over the country focused on the latest and most advanced achievements in marine science and technology,attracting more than 5000 guests and representatives from sea related enterprises and project units as well as citizens. Officials and representatives of government departments and international organizations from more than 30 countries and regions visited the exhibition, and the exhibition scale hit an all-time high.

The 2018 Xiamen International Ocean Week Fair for the Transformation of Marine Science and Technology Achievements was co-sponsored by Xiamen Southern Ocean Research Center, China Ocean Society, Xiamen City Marine and Fisheries Bureau,East China Sea Branch of the State Oceanic Administration,and Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, and coorganized by the Office of Xiamen City Leading Group for Speeding u p D e v e l o p m e n t o f M a r i n e Economy and the Secretariat of the Xiamen Southern Ocean Research Center. Adhering to the concept of “specialization, marketization and internationalization”, the exhibition acted as a bridge for the investment and cooperation of a number of marine innovative science and technology projects,effectively promoting the regional marine science and technology achievements exchange and joint and landing transformation.

The Xiamen Fair this year was the first time held in the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center. The scale of the exhibition and talks was further expanded and upgraded. The exhibition area exceeded 4000 square meters accommodating 140 booths. With marine biological medicine and products, marine vessels and maritime high-end equipment,marine high-tech services, and maritime institutions of higher learning and scientific research, etc., a number of marine innovative projects with great potential for development were collectively unveiled at the fair. Among them were radar optoelectronic AIO machines, ship photoelectric forensics system, ship safety driving assistant system, frontier and coastal defense laser night vision system, patrol boat wireless graphic transmission system,frontier and coastal defense stereoscopic control platform, three-dimensional display and monitoring system near the sea area, remote photoelectric turntable,etc. Physical samples were used as the main form, combining pictures,images, models, field demonstrations,and interactive forms to demonstrate all kinds of marine scientific and technological achievements to domestic and foreign merchants, fully demonstrating Chinese, especially in the southern region, marine science and technology innovation strengths.

In addition to the main line of the exhibition of marine scientific and technological achievements, the sponsors of the Xiamen Fair also designed the “1+N” exhibition model, which not only highlights the“1” exhibition of marine scientific and technological achievements,but also runs a series of supporting activities for “N” at the same time.It includes the founding meeting of the Ocean Industry Innovation Alliance,the release of the ocean high-tech achievements, interviews with famous experts, the product promotion meeting of the enterprises involved in the sea,the road show of the marine pioneering project, etc. Combined with diversified supporting activities, Xiamen Fair was further run into a high-level, highcaliber, characteristic, influential,comprehensive large-scale ocean theme event, creating a specialized platform for the display and transformation of marine scientific and technological achievements.

It is especially worth mentioning that during the Xiamen Fair, a signing ceremony was also held for marine economic projects. The signing projects included: the first batch of Xiamen City Ocean and Fisheries Development Special Funds of 9 projects in 2018,with a total investment of 99.7241 million yuan; the second batch of Xiamen City Marine and Fisheries Development Special Fund of 7 projects in 2018 (including three projects to increase capital and expand production), the planned total investment of the projects is 150.8 million yuan.

It is reported that the Xiamen International Ocean Week Fair for the Transformation of Marine Science and Technology Achievements is held in the first week of November each year, and has been successfully held four times. It is a professional exhibition to promote the negotiation of the transformation of marine scientific and technological achievements. It has gradually become the annual gala for marine science and technology and economic integration and development. The exhibition aims at comprehensively displaying the new image of economic development in marine science and technology, building an important platform for international marine economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and promoting technical exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between Xiamen and the national marine science and technology industry by adopting a series of activities such as the exhibition and sales of marine science and technology products.
