BMW's current product and technology offensive has led to a significant rise in r&d spending. The automaker is investing heavily in electric and autonomous technology to keep pace with fast-changing demands. BMW finance boss Nicolas Peter is working to make sure the company has the money it needs to develop nextgeneration solutions while still meeting the group’s profitability goals. " We are going to launch several electric cars starting with the Mini E in 2019, followed by the X3 in 2020 and the iNext in 2021. Today's investments are very important for the next generation of electric vehicles. We are already investing in the fifth generation of the battery technology."

AT&T says it will continue to expand its fiber-optic network to deliver improved technology and communications services to businesses of varying sizes. "We now have 1.8 million business customer locations connected with fiber," confirmed John Stephens. "That means more sales opportunities for the team. We also expect increased business activity following the passage of tax reform." Companies' use of data, applications, and services in the cloud continue to grow, and along with it, demand for high-speed,ever-present connectivity. The service provider plans to meet this demand by delivering high-speed connectivity to large and small business customers through its fiber-optic network in key metros throughout the nation.

Pandora is making progress on its programmatic ad business, and it recently launched programmatic video ads in beta, and a pilot program for programmatic audio. Pandora’s management declined to give “specific annual guidance,” while CFO Naveen Chopra did say during the call that Pandora believes revenue growth for 2018 will come from the subscription side of the business, while the company works on measures it believes will “ultimately” drive growth in ad revenue.
