【Abstract】: With the development of economy, the demand for translation is increasing day by day. Therefore, in order to better meet the needs of society, college English translation teaching is very important. In other words, translation teaching should become an important part of college English teaching. Both teachers and students should attach great importance to students' translation skills and listening, speaking, reading and writing.
【Key words】: College English translation, translation teaching, current situation, countermeasures.
1.The current situation:
(1)The lack of permeating culture background
The goal of English translation course teaching is to improve students' ability of translation so that students can better use the translation skills to solve practical problems in daily life and work. At present, English teachers of many universities still explain the content of translation only in the process of translating and teaching, and there is no penetration of any relevant cultural background. This kind of teaching just makes the students simply translate the knowledge into simple language types, and does not fully grasp the content of translated materials.
(2)The lack of pertinence in teaching
The course of translation is one of the most difficult courses in college English teaching, and the four abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing are grouped together. Therefore, the improvement of students' translation ability must be accompanied by the improvement of these four abilities. However, many college English teachers have a lack of pertinence for the translation teaching content designed by students. And in the actual teaching, the teacher uses the same teaching content for all students, and does not have specialized teaching according to the students' major. In addition, all the English textbooks used by students are the same, and the teaching content is focused on reading and listening. Such teaching mode can not enable students to use English translation skills well in real life and work.
(3)The lag of teaching model
As we all know, the traditional teaching mode has been unable to adapt to the current teaching development. And the phenomenon of lag of teaching mode is a phenomenon which is prevalent in English translation teaching in Chinese universities. Many college English teachers teach students a translation of the information so that students can complete it in the form of homework and then give it to the teachers. However, the translation materials used by teachers are also outdated and out of touch with some current events in society.
2 .The countermeasure
(1)Optimizing course settings
First, in the context of employment-oriented, the society gives special preferential treatment to those high vocational college graduates who have good English and solid professional skills, and provide them with many rare foreign employment opportunities, which has prompted us to constantly optimize the curriculum and promote a new higher vocational public English teaching system consisting of basic English, professional English, workplace English and industry English. In my opinion, the basic English setting should not be too long, usually about a year. And it should mainly teach students some necessary and practical English language knowledge and language skills to introduce the culture custom of English speaking countries. This not only cultivates the students' international communication consciousness, but also lays a good language foundation for the students' professional English study. At the same time, it's better to combine the students' major and set relevant tourism English, etc. And they also need to train students to use English for oral or written communication skills, such as reading and preliminary translation of English materials related to this major. What's more, it is necessary to offer professional English elective courses to meet the need of students' development and employment. At the same time, through the addition of etiquette English, English writing ,British and America literature, economic and trade reading, second foreign language and other foreign language course to meet the different needs of different students to cultivate compound talents for the society.
(2)Changing teaching type
The first is that the \"one-size-fits-all\" approach to teaching is urgently needed. The diversity of students' source type of higher vocational students makes their subject basic knowledge, intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors have obvious individual differences. We can only see the individual difference with their aptitude so that each student can achieve development and fulfillment. Therefore, we should combine the interests of students and implement hierarchical teaching according to the cognitive structure and cognitive ability of students. At the same time, it's better to let the students choose the class, which is conducive to their own development according to their own learning ability, interest and desire. And the school also should set different specific requirements and carry out different teaching from the actual starting point of students from all levels. Stratified teaching is an important exploration of English teaching in higher vocational colleges, and it looks at all students instead of a few \"top students\", which is helpful to cultivate students' subjective consciousness, which is conducive to the development of teachers' creative spirit and the improvement of classroom efficiency. Second, we need to change the traditional teaching mode into a new teaching mode based on multimedia network classroom and actively carry out the second classroom activities. If the \"English learning center\" is established, it will be carried out on a regular basis. And they also should establish an English radio station with a great deal of information about the general situation of Britain and America, the geography of the people, the customs and the interesting stories, the celebrity allusions and so on. In addition, the multimedia network can obtain information other than books. This multi-channel and multi-sensory information can help students learn English successfully.
3.Conclusion
The construction and development of the country require a great deal of translation talents, which has become a new requirement for college students. I think in the process of translation teaching, college English teachers should combine the present teaching situation with the actual situation of the students learning, discover the deficiency of the teaching, and adopt corresponding strategies so as to improve students ′ English abilities.
