W Shanghai-The Bund Debutes
W Shanghai - The Bund, located on the up-and-coming North Bund, is set to steal the scene from June 2017. Owned by APP CHINA, W Shanghai - The Bund features a blend of groundbreaking design and style inspired by local decadence from the past and avant-garde present, captivating the contrast of the past and future. Acclaimed design company G.A Design employs Captivating Contrasts as the overarching design narrative of W Shanghai – The Bund. It acknowledges the history and spirit of Shanghai, the unique ethical fusions of Hai Pai– combining the old and the new, east and west.
All 374 stylish rooms and suites at W Shanghai – The Bund boast liquid crystal switchable privacy glass, imparting a flair for drama. Specialties of the city are immersed into every corner, with Shanghai's famous dumpling Xiaolongbao displayed as a cushion with a W spin of bling sequins. The Welcome Desk (W's reception area) features an enchanting kaleidoscopic installation which mirrors each of the guests constantly flowing through the area – a direct representation of East meets West, as the hotel consistently seeks to welcome guests from all over the world through a mix of culture and influences. Another design highlight is the Melting QiPao, a literal reflection of Shanghai as a melting pot of cultures can be seen on the walls of the restroom at W Floor. As an iconic Chinese element, the traditional QiPao pattern has evolved from western influences and style through the years, emulating W Shanghai's role in the 21st century as a modern design beacon.
