        1TheSpreadingofFrenchValuesinFranceandAbroad

        byCheLin

With the core value concept of France “freedom, equality and fraternity”, first advocated at the end of the eighteenth Century, being established in the mid nineteenth Century by way of the Constitution, public advocacy, festivals and ceremonies, national leaders’ speeches, school education and other means, the will of the state came to be extended gradually from the social elite to all the society. As an important country with international influence in the history, for more than two hundred years, France continuously spreads its values to other countries and regions through language, education, cultural diplomacy and the media. This paper examines the ways and means of spreading the French core values at home and abroad and explores their experiences, gains and losses.

        14China-AfricaCooperationoftheForestResourcesinGlobalGovernance

        byZhangQing&ZhouXinyu

Forests play a key role in the fight against climate change. Forest governance has also become the focus of the world in the field of environment and development. In terms of China’s diplomatic strategy, a “comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership” was built with African countries. With western countries and international organizations taking actions to promote global forest governance in Africa, China, while adhering to the principle of respecting sovereignty over forest resources, should also strengthen cooperation with African countries on forest resources based on its successful experience in forest governance and thus enhance its status in the system of global forest governance.

The G20 Summit plays a prominent role in global economic cooperation. Analyzing how a host country covers the Summit held on its territory can serve as a reference point for the Chinese media when major conferences are held in our country. As a result, our research focuses on the coverage of the G20 summit in Cannes in the French media. By analyzing 87 related articles in the Agence France Presse, Le Monde, Le Figaro, Les Echos and La Tribune from 4 October to 4 December 2011, we aim to highlight the ways in which the French press covers this subject in terms of both agenda-setting and narrative framework.

        byWangMu

Reality and fiction are the two sides of a literary work. Contemporary French novelist and biographers pay attention to the artful combination of the two aspects. Thanks to their rich skills, they confer a more credible authenticity to characters and intrigues. Instead of being limited by historical documents, they create a flexible porosity between the real and the imaginative.

        byWangYingqin

The defeats suffered during the First and Second Wars of Opium made the Qing government realize its military backwardness in the face of the western countries. That’s why it launched the Westernization Movement (YangwuYundong), aiming to make the country more powerful and prosperous. One of the reformational activities was sending Chinese students to the West. Four groups of students from the Fouzhou Arsenal founded by Zuo Zongtang were successively sent to France. The present article follows the activities of these students in China and France in order to study their influence on the relations between China and France on the military, economic, pedagogical, diplomatic and cultural fronts.
