摘 ? ?要： 在英語學(xué)習(xí)中經(jīng)常見到There be結(jié)構(gòu)，但是學(xué)生在學(xué)習(xí)中始終無法準(zhǔn)確地翻譯該結(jié)構(gòu)。本文試對There be結(jié)構(gòu)的一些用法進(jìn)行講解，以求達(dá)到順利解決該結(jié)構(gòu)翻譯問題的目的。

There be 結(jié)構(gòu)在英語中的運(yùn)用比較廣泛，但是學(xué)生在學(xué)習(xí)中始終無法準(zhǔn)確地翻譯該結(jié)構(gòu)。在英語中，There be 結(jié)構(gòu)表示某地存在某物或某人，結(jié)構(gòu)為“there+be+名詞+地點(diǎn)（時(shí)間）狀語”。這種結(jié)構(gòu)中的引導(dǎo)詞“there”本身沒有意義，常弱讀，there與be結(jié)合，意義相當(dāng)于漢語中的”有“。此結(jié)構(gòu)中有時(shí)不用動(dòng)詞be，而用 seem to be，happen to be，be likely to be，be bould to be等詞組，或用live， come，enter，run，stand，occure，lie等。There be 后面的名詞是句子的主語，屬倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。其疑問句形式是將be或will/have/can/must等助動(dòng)詞、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞提至there之前，否定形式則直接在be或助動(dòng)詞、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞后加not。例如：There was an English party in the hall last night.昨晚大廳里舉行了英語聚會(huì)。

There runs a river at a distance.在遠(yuǎn)處有一條河流過。

Once there lived an old fisherman in a village.從前村子里住著一個(gè)老漁民。

此外，在科技英語中，這種結(jié)構(gòu)往往不帶狀語，而是帶有各種不同結(jié)構(gòu)的定語，翻譯時(shí)要根據(jù)上下文靈活選擇。

1.譯成有主語的“有”。

A.在There be 結(jié)構(gòu)中通?？砂丫渲械牡攸c(diǎn)狀語譯成漢語的主語（省去介詞）。

There is a picture on the wall.墻上有一幅畫。

There stands a typewriter on the desk.桌子上放著一臺(tái)打印機(jī)。

B.不帶狀語的“There be”結(jié)構(gòu)，有時(shí)可以把原文主語部分拆開來翻譯，部分譯成漢語的主語，另一部分譯成謂語“有”的賓語。

There are three main laws of mechanics，or three laws of Newton.力學(xué)有三大定律，即牛頓三大定律。

There are about seventy metallic elements.金屬元素有大約七十種左右。

2.譯成無主語的“有”。

On one wall there is a big red flag.一面墻上有一面紅旗。

3.不帶狀語的There be結(jié)構(gòu)，有時(shí)可以直接譯成漢語的無主語“有”或其他動(dòng)詞。

Where there is a will，there is a way.有志者事竟成。

There may have been an accident.可能發(fā)生了事故。

There is going to be a storm.要刮大風(fēng)了。

4.譯成漢語無主語“有”的英語句子，其主語之后，有時(shí)帶有解釋部分。

There are two kinds of charge-positive and negative.有兩種電荷：正電荷和負(fù)電荷。

5.其他譯法。

There are friends and friends.朋友有好的，也有壞的。（譯為并列句）

There is no come and go with him.他很固執(zhí)，毫不變通。（譯成謂語）

There is no down.平安無事。（譯成四字句）

There is not a moment to be lost.分秒必爭。

There more danger from a pretended friend than an open enemy.偽裝的朋友比公開的敵人更危險(xiǎn)/披著羊皮的狼。（介詞后名詞譯成主語，主語譯成謂語）

There is no telling what will happen.未來的事無可奉告。（將telling的賓語譯成主語，主語譯成了謂語。）

6.There be結(jié)構(gòu)作定語從句時(shí)，省略作從句主語的關(guān)系代詞。

He has made a list of all the papers there are on this subject.（which定語從句省略了主語 which） 他將所有關(guān)于這個(gè)題目的論文列了個(gè)單子。

There is the fastest train（that） there is to Beijing.那兒現(xiàn)有去北京的特快列車。

There is something （that） keeps upsetting him.有些事使他心煩意亂。

There are all books （that）there are in the library.圖書館所有的書都在那里。

7.有幾個(gè)并列成分作主語時(shí)，動(dòng)詞一般與最近的一個(gè)主語在人稱和數(shù)方面保持一致。

There is a worker and some students at the party.在聚會(huì)上有一個(gè)工人和一些學(xué)生。

There are two pencils and a pen in the pencil box.鉛筆盒中有兩支鉛筆，一支鋼筆。

8.在There be結(jié)構(gòu)中，一般說來，謂語動(dòng)詞“be”須與主語保持?jǐn)?shù)的一致。但在口語中，Theres后面出現(xiàn)復(fù)數(shù)形式的主語也是常有的。如：

Theres worse things than that.還有比這更糟糕的事情。

Theres two patients in the waiting room.在候診大廳有兩位病人。

Theres lots of good fishes in the sea.大海中有許多好看的魚。

9.There與be中間可插入一些表推測的情態(tài)動(dòng)詞、表時(shí)態(tài)的短語和動(dòng)詞短語 （和將來時(shí)be going to/ will，現(xiàn)在完成時(shí) have/has + pp.，used to結(jié)構(gòu)等連用，注意其構(gòu)成形式，這一內(nèi)容在我們?nèi)粘＞毩?xí)中經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤，是一難點(diǎn)，也是歷年中考試題中的一個(gè)考點(diǎn)。）。例如：

There must be a pen in the box.盒子中一定有支鋼筆。

There happened to be some money in my pocket.口袋里碰巧有些錢。

There is going to be a meeting tonight.明天將有一個(gè)會(huì)議。

There has been a big tree on the top of the hill.山頂有一棵大樹。

There used to be a church across from the bank.銀行對面曾經(jīng)有一間教堂。

10.There be + 主語 + doing +介詞短語。例如：

There is a truck collecting rubish outside.外面有輛卡車正在收集垃圾。

There is a wallet lying on the ground. 地上有一個(gè)錢包。

11.There is（was）+no +動(dòng)詞ing結(jié)構(gòu)相當(dāng)于It is（was） impossible to +動(dòng)詞原形。如：

There is no going home.=It is impossible to go home.

There is no living with him.=It is impossible to live with him.

There is no knowing what may happen.=It is impossible to know what may happen.

12.There be 句型的反義疑問句。

There is a cup on the table， isnt there？桌子上有只杯子，是嗎？

There is some orange in the glass， isnt there？杯子里有橘汁，是嗎？

There are a lot of letters in the mailbox， arent there？郵筒里有很多信件，是嗎？

There will be a new hospital nearby， wont there？附近要建一家新醫(yī)院，是嗎？

13. There be結(jié)構(gòu)和have的比較。

（1）區(qū)別點(diǎn)：there be 意為存在，強(qiáng)調(diào)某地有某物，不表示所屬關(guān)系;have 表示所有關(guān)系， 強(qiáng)調(diào)某人或某地有某物，這是其基本用法。如：

There are some trees in front of the house.房前有些樹。

Tom has many friends in China.湯姆在中國有許多朋友。

（2）相同點(diǎn)：在表示結(jié)構(gòu)上的含有時(shí)，既可以用there be 句型，又可以用have（has）表示。如：

There are many long rivers in China./China has many long rivers.中國有許多長河。

How many days are there in March？/How many days has in March？三月份有多少天？
