LeBron Raymone James,nicknamed1“King James”,is an Americanprofessional2basket原ball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA).He is a 2.03m-tall small forward who has also played as a power forward.He has been an NBA champion,the NBA Finals MVP,a NBA MVP,and the NBA Rookie of the Year.James is a nine-time NBA All-Star,and has been named to seven All-NBA teams and five All-Defensive teams.On January 16,2013,he became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 20,000 career points,at 28 years and 17 days of age.

James was born on December 30,1984 in Akron,Ohio to a 16-year-old mother,Gloria Marie James,who raised LeBron on her own.Life was often a struggle for LeBron and Gloria,who moved from apartment to apartment in theslummy3neighborhoods of Akron while Gloria struggled to look for steady work.Realizing he would be better off with a morestable4family en原vironment,Gloria allowed LeBron to move in with the family of Frank Walker,a local youth foot原ball coach,who introduced LeBron to basketball when LeBron was nine years old.

As a youth,James played Amateur Athletic Union(AAU)basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars.James played high school basketball at St.Vincent St.Mary High School in his hometown of Akron,Ohio.A three-time“Mr.Basketball of Ohio”,he was highly praised by the national media as a future NBA superstar.

After graduating,he was selected with the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.James led the Cavaliers to the 2007 NBA Finals,their first NBA Finals appearance in franchise history,but the team was swept by the San Antonio Spurs.In 2010,he left the Cavaliers for the Heat in a highly publicized free a原gency period.James won his firstchampionship5in 2012 when the Heatdefeated6the Oklahoma City Thunder.He wasawarded7the NBA Finals MVP Award.

In addition to being a star on the court,James has got large amount of wealth and fame as a result ofnumerous8endorsement contracts,and he has been ranked as one of America’s mostinfluential9athletes.Besides he has been devoted to charity projects and public service,espe原cially those helping kids.James has made a great contribution to the community.He supported four different charities called the After School All Stars(ASAS),Boys and Girls Clubs of America(BGCA),Children’s Defense Fund(CDF),and ONExONE.ASAS provides after school programs that prepare kids for college and improve their sports andacademic10skills.BGCA lets kids have passion for life and become potential students.CDF helps kids get a healthy start in life and gives poor kids the supplies they need.ONExONE improves the lives of children around the world.

As you can see James is not only a threat to players on the court,but he is also a threat to anybody who wants to prevent the poor children to have their needs met.
