If the pleasure of learning is universal，why are there so many dull， incurious people in the world？ It is because they were made dull， by bad teaching，by isolation，by surrender to routine，sometimes，too，by the pressure of hard work and poverty，or by the toxin of riches，with all their ephemeral and trivial delights. With luck，resolution and guidance，however，the human mind can survive not only poverty but even wealth.

Far beyond books，learning means keeping the mind open and active to receive all kinds of experience.

Learning is a natural pleasure， inborn and instinctive，one of the essential pleasures of the human race.

如果學(xué)習(xí)的樂趣是普遍意義上的，為何世上仍有如此多愚鈍、無趣之人。那并不是因為他們生而如此，而是由于接受差勁的教育，遭受孤立，做事因循守舊，有時，也因工作壓力及貧窮，抑或受了占有財富時那短暫而微小的喜悅感的荼毒。但是，當(dāng)人類擁有運氣，決心以及恰當(dāng)?shù)囊龑?dǎo)時，貧窮或富有都無法將你動搖。
