On July 20th,2011,Yao Ming held apress conference(新聞發(fā)布會(huì))toannoun-ce(宣布)his retirement.After working for the Huston Rockets for 8 years,China’s Little Giant left the stage of NBA formally.Yao Ming said that he would return to China andcontinue(繼續(xù))to work with Shanghai Sharks.

2011年7 月20日，姚明召開(kāi)新聞發(fā)布會(huì)，正式宣布退役。在為休斯頓火箭隊(duì)征戰(zhàn)8年之后，中國(guó) “小巨人”正式離開(kāi)了NBA舞臺(tái)。姚明表示他將回到中國(guó)，跟他的上海大鯊魚(yú)隊(duì)在一起繼續(xù)工作。

On September 12th,1980,Yao Ming was born in the Sixth Hospital of Shanghai.His parents were both basketball players.His father was 2.08 meters tall and he worked for the Shanghai Men’s Basketball.His mother was 1.88 meters tall and she was a key player of Chinese Women’s Basketball in the 1970s.

1980年9 月12日，姚明出生于上海市第六醫(yī)院。他的父母都是籃球運(yùn)動(dòng)員，父親身高2.08米，曾效力于上海男籃；母親身高1.88米，是20世紀(jì)70年代中國(guó)女籃的主力隊(duì)員。

When Yao Ming was four years old,he got his first basketball.At the age of 6,he watched the show of American Harry Basketball Team in Shanghai and he knew NBA.When he was 9 years old,he began to gotamateur(業(yè)余的)training in the Sports School in Xuhui District in Shanghai.Because of the his family’sedification(熏 陶 ),his understanding to basketball was very high.Five years later,he entered the Shanghai Youth Team.And he was chosen to enter the National Youth Team.

在姚明四歲生日時(shí)，他得到了第一個(gè)籃球。6歲時(shí)看美國(guó)哈里籃球隊(duì)在上海表演，知道了NBA。9歲那年，姚明在上海徐匯區(qū)少年體校開(kāi)始接受業(yè)余訓(xùn)練。由于從小受到的家庭熏陶，他對(duì)籃球的悟性很高。5年后，他進(jìn)入上海青年隊(duì)；17歲入選國(guó)家青年隊(duì)。

After Yao Ming entered China’s National BasketballTeam atthe age of18,his performance was more mature.During the 2000BeijingOlympicGames,YaoMingaveraged(平均得分)10.5 points per game.And hisshooting percentage(投籃命中率)was 63.9%per game,which was not matched by others.In the 2011 Asian Basketball Tournament,Yao Ming’s shooting percentage was 72.4% per game and it helped the China’s National Basketball Team win thechampionship(冠軍).

在18歲入選中國(guó)國(guó)家籃球隊(duì)之后，姚明的表現(xiàn)進(jìn)一步成熟。2000年奧運(yùn)會(huì)期間，姚明平均每場(chǎng)拿下10.5分，他平均每場(chǎng)63.9%的投籃命中率也無(wú)人能比。在2001年的亞洲籃球錦標(biāo)賽上，姚明每場(chǎng)投籃命中率高達(dá)72.4%，幫助中國(guó)國(guó)家隊(duì)奪得冠軍。

On June 26th,2002,Yao Ming was chosen to work in the Huston Rockets in theNBA Draft(NBA選秀).

2002年6 月26日，姚明在NBA選秀中被休斯頓火箭隊(duì)挑中。

But Yao’s NBA career had beenplagued(折磨)by numerous injuries.The most recent of them was astress fracture(應(yīng)力性骨裂)in his left leg.Because of the broken bones in his left foot,Yao missed the entire 2009-2010 season and played only five games in the season.

但是姚明的NBA生涯卻一直被許多的傷痛折磨著。最近的一次受傷是他左腿的應(yīng)力性骨裂。因?yàn)樗竽_的破碎的骨頭，姚明錯(cuò)過(guò)了整個(gè)2009到2010年賽季，整個(gè)賽季他只參加了五場(chǎng)比賽。

Rockets owner Leslie Alexander and the general manager Daryl Morey said they would sign a new contract with Yao if he recovered.In May,Yao said he was continuing withrehabilitation(復(fù)健)in the hope of making a return.But on July 20th,he announced his retirement.

火箭隊(duì)老板萊斯利·亞歷山大和總經(jīng)理達(dá)瑞爾·莫雷說(shuō)如果姚明康復(fù)了，他們想和姚明再簽份新合約。五月份的時(shí)候，姚明說(shuō)他一直在做復(fù)健，希望能夠重新回到賽場(chǎng)。但是7月20號(hào)他卻宣布退役。

It was Yao Ming who let Chinese know more about NBA.He also proved that Chinese could also play in NBA,and could become the international stars.

姚明讓中國(guó)人對(duì)NBA有了更深層次的了解，也證明了中國(guó)人也可以打 NBA，而且，也能成為國(guó)際巨星。
