India: the Art of the Temple
The exhibition India: the Art of the Temple was opened on Aug 05, 2010 in ShanghaiMuseum. Spanning more than ten centuries and including iconic pieces from the collections ofthe British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, the exhibition tells the story of India’senduring traditions which have ancient roots yet continue in a vibrant way to the present. Ondisplay are 106 religious sculptures and other cultural relics from three of the world's earliestreligions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. This great cultural story is hold through a marvelousarray of stone sculptures, terracottas, bronze sculptures, architectural component, pottery,paintings and textiles. The exhibition is the fourth collaboration between the British Museumand the Shanghai Museum and will run until November 15th, 2010. It will provide an opportunityfor the public to appreciate the diversity of religion.
