The price nowadays has not only become an argument among scholars and officials who use statistics as their weapons, but also become a hottest greeting among the mass, especially the successive rise in food price…\"what prices still remain the same, and what prices will go up tomorrow?\" The Chinese civilians are experiencing the strongest wave of price soaring ever since 2004.
該句可譯為“…but has also become the hottest greeting among the masses, especially regarding the successive rise in food price.”
Nowadays the prices, especially the increasing food prices, are becoming not only the controversy between academics and government officials who use the statistical data as weapons, but also the most popular greeting exchanged by the present ordinary people. \"What price hasn't grown? What price will increase tomorrow?\" The Chinese people have been experiencing the biggest wave of price increases since 2004.
我個(gè)人建議將譯文中的“the controversy” 改為“a point of controversy”。 當(dāng)我們說物價(jià)上漲時(shí)通常使用the price has increased而不用the price has grown。
The current cost of living has been a controversial issue over which the scholars and officials have been arguing by employing statistics as a weapon. It has even become the most popular (hottest) greeting between common citizens, especially as far as the ever-increasing food price is concerned - \"What else remains unchanged? What items else are going to be more expensive tomorrow?\" Chinese people are going through the strongest wave of a price increase ever since 2004.
“items else” 應(yīng)改為“other items”。文中最后一句中的“the strongest wave of a price increase”改譯為“strongest wave of price increases”會(huì)更好些。
