在現(xiàn)代交通系統(tǒng)的支撐下，高鐵站點及其周邊不再是單一的交通集散空間，而是整合交通、商業(yè)、商務(wù)、文化娛樂、會展、信息服務(wù)的城市新型功能混合區(qū)，并成為新的社會經(jīng)濟(jì)與文化交流中心，是重構(gòu)城市空間結(jié)構(gòu)與展現(xiàn)城市空間特色的重要機遇。一方面，站城地區(qū)作為城市重大工程項目，具有塑造新時期城市空間骨架的觸媒作用。然而，目前已經(jīng)存在的大量新城建設(shè)、不斷涌現(xiàn)的各種綜合服務(wù)中心、老城中心的更新與復(fù)蘇等，如何協(xié)同它們之間的平衡發(fā)展關(guān)系成為站點地區(qū)開發(fā)的難題。另一方面，站城地區(qū)作為與其他城市聯(lián)系的門戶，擔(dān)負(fù)著展示城市空間特色的窗口作用。但以往的規(guī)劃設(shè)計一味地追求站房的雄偉和標(biāo)志性，追求廣場或軸線的氣派，缺乏地域和地方的特點，既造成了投資上的浪費，還給旅客的出行帶來了不便，如何協(xié)調(diào)站點地區(qū)與其他地區(qū)的尺度、風(fēng)貌、交通等空間關(guān)系也應(yīng)受到重視。

空間基因研究為以上問題提供了新的解決思路?；诔鞘谐叨鹊目臻g基因，可以在城市總體層面上對站點地區(qū)及其他地區(qū)進(jìn)行整合和協(xié)調(diào)，梳理城市整體空間秩序；基于街區(qū)尺度的空間基因研究，可以將本土空間組合模式與綜合交通樞紐站房、商業(yè)商務(wù)地塊、集散廣場、景觀軸線等空間要素有機融合，強化尺度與風(fēng)貌的控制引導(dǎo)，創(chuàng)造形象與功能兼?zhèn)涞脑诘匦詷屑~核心區(qū)，由此實現(xiàn)站點地區(qū)與城市整體空間效益的雙贏。以下以南京站、南京南站、蘇州站為例進(jìn)行介紹?！?/p>
