        Abstract: After nearly a hundred years of development, Chinese watercolor painting has taken on a diversified look and gradually penetrated into the public life.While we are delighted, we should also pay attention to its future trend. Combining with international art forms, we should create ethnic elements deeply, reflect the spirit of The Times, and truly shoulder the responsibility of developing Chinese watercolor industry.

        Ⅰ. Overview of the development of watercolor painting in China

        1978 - now: the reform and prosperity period of Chinese watercolor painting.During this period, the national watercolor and powder exhibitions were held for many times.

        When the sixth national art exhibition was held in 1984, watercolor painting was set up separately for the first time.With the increasing expansion of the author's team, a large number of other painters turned to watercolor painting, art level rapidly improved.

        In the ninth national art exhibition in 1999, watercolor painting reached a new height and won three gold MEDALS respectively with Chinese painting and oil painting.This greatly enriched the forms and techniques of expression, and initially formed the style of "Chinese watercolor painting" with Chinese national characteristics, time spirit and personal style.

        Ⅱ.Analysis of the current situation of watercolor painting language

        When Chinese national art collides with foreign art, a new spark is bound to be ignited.In the Chinese watercolor painting field, there are many pioneers who are bold in thinking and down-to-earth, and they have also achieved fruitful results.However, the lack of time concept and innovation consciousness makes watercolor painting, as a non-mainstream painting, face more thinking and challenges.
