Books are our friends because they are bridges to knowledge. Knowledge is valuable because it enriches our life and brings us happiness.

Almost all great men in the history of mankind loved books. We have every reason to believe it is the knowledge in books that led them to success. There is no genius without books. Because books give them knowledge and knowledge gives them power. A man is half blind if he is unable to read.

Books make us able to learn about the past and look forward to the future. They are the most valuable things in the world. Let books be our good friends all the time.

The Great Wall

The Great Wall runs across North China like a huge dragon， It winds its way from west to east， across deserts， over mountains， through valleys till at last it reaches the sea. It’s the longest wall on the earth， also one of the wonders in the world.

The Great Wall has a history of more than 2000 years. The first part was built during the Spring and Autumn Period. All the walls were joined up in Qin Dynasty. All tile work was done by hand. Thousands of people died while building the wall. Thus the Great Wall came into existence.

Since then， it has been rebuilt and repaired many times. Now the Great Wall， the admiration of the world， has taken on a new look. It’s visited by large numbers of people from all parts of the country and the world.

My Weekend

OK， let me tell you something about my weekend.

I am going to do many things and be very busy on the weekend. So I do my homework on Saturday morning.

In the afternoon， I am going to do housework with my mother. Because I am a good girl， I am helpful at home. On Sunday morning， I am going to visit my grandparents with my parents. In the afternoon， we are going to the park together. Because there is a kite show. And my grandparents likes making kites.

I think， we can see many beautiful kites there. And we are going to buy some beautiful kites， too.

Then， we are going to fly the new kites， that’s fun. In the evening， we are going to have a big dinner. We are going to have fish for dinner. Because my grandparents likes eating fish. And my grandma cooks fish well. After dinner， we are going to watch TV together. We are going to be very happy.

During Summer Vacation

A new term began. Students all returned to school and met again. They were talking about what they had done in the holidays. I was much happier. I couldn’t wait to tell my story. Now it’s my turn. I told them I got a job in a restaurant. I worked as a waitress. They didn’t believe at first. “Yes， it’s true.”I said，“I really had a hard time at the beginning. But several days later， I could do a good job. I earned six hundred yuan this holiday.”They all looked at me with their mouths open.

My Family

My name is Li Hua. I am from a worker’s family. There are six people in my family. They are my grandfather， my grandmother， my father， my mother， my sister and I.

Every member in my family works for his or her own trade. My grandfather and grandmother are peasants. They do farm work every day in my hometown. My father is a senior engineer. He is now working in Africa， helping to build a power station. My mother is a teacher. She teaches English in a middle school. My sister， five years older than I， is a doctor in the People’s Hospital of our county. She loves her work and does it well. I am a middle school student. And I am going to take this year’s college entrance examination. I wish that I could be enrolled by a famous university.

That is my family. All the members in my family live in harmony. We love each other devotedly.
