Familys Christmas lights used for 48 years with no bulb1 replacements
A British family said their string2 of Christmas tree lights has been used annually3 for 48 years without a single bulb being replaced.
Ross Shaddick, 38, said his mother, Vina, 68, was a teenager when she bought the fairy lights from Woolworths in 1969.
Shaddick said the lights are now adorning4 the tree at his home in Plymouth, England.
The family said the lights are believed to be the oldest in Britain to be continually used each Christmas season without replacing any bulbs.

Daredevil5 breaks slackline6 world record at Eiffel Tower
A daredevil performer broke a slacklining world record by walking across a rope suspended7 from Trocadero Square in Paris to the Eiffel Tower.
Nathan Paulin, 23, crossed the 2,198-foot-long rope, which was suspended 230 feet over the River Seine.
Paulins stunt8 bested his own record of 2,171 feet for an urban-area slackline crossing.
The attempt took about half an hour. Paulin revealed that during a test run, he fell 262 feet before the end.

A Missouri woman ended up making two trips to the state lottery office in a single day when her winnings from a $1,000 jackpot turned into $100,000.
Veronica Buchanan said she went to the Missouri Lottery office in St. Louis on Nov. 29 to cash in a Monopoly Scratchers ticket that earned her a $1,000 prize.
Buchanan said she stopped on her way home at the store where she had purchased the ticket and decided to try her luck a second time with a $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket.
The second ticket sent her back to the lottery office to claim a $100,000 prize.

Police stop car with massive11 Christmas tree on top
Police in a Massachusetts town are showing residents how not to transport their holiday trees.
Sudbury police posted a picture Friday of a vehicle with a large tree on top of it. Almost the entire car appears to be hidden.
Police say an officer stopped the vehicle on Route 20 in the town, located about 25 miles (40 km) west of Boston.
Police on Facebook reminded people to transport holiday trees “responsibly”.
