跨文化交際能力大賽比賽現(xiàn)場(chǎng)
The National Outline forthe Medium- and Long-Term Talent Development Plan (2010-2020)promulgated in 2010 proposed that colleges and universities should train a large number of talents with international perspectives,proficiency in international rules, and ability to participate in international affairs. In the practice of such cultivate, the “Intercultural Communicative Competence Test” is an outstanding example.
2010年國家頒布的《國家中長(zhǎng)期人才發(fā)展規(guī)劃綱要(2010—2020年)》提出,高校要培養(yǎng)大批具有國際視野、通曉國際規(guī)則、能夠參與國際事務(wù)和國際競(jìng)爭(zhēng)的國際化人才。在跨文化交際能力的培養(yǎng)實(shí)踐中,“跨文化交際能力大賽”是一個(gè)典型代表。
“跨文化交際能力大賽”是一個(gè)以英語語言為基礎(chǔ)的大賽。在國內(nèi)得到了有關(guān)政府部門和20多所高校的認(rèn)可;在海外與美國U.S. News Global Education達(dá)成戰(zhàn)略合作,為獲獎(jiǎng)選手提供世界知名高校的推薦名額與獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金機(jī)會(huì)??缥幕浑H能力大賽從跨文化基本知識(shí)、跨文化差異和跨文化思維適應(yīng)角度考查學(xué)生在多元文化和跨文化情境下有效開展人際互動(dòng)的能力,引導(dǎo)學(xué)生最大限度地發(fā)揮自己的潛力。
Intercultural Communicative Competence Test (hereinafter called “ICCT”) uses English as its media. It has received the full support of relevant government departments and the recognition of more than 20 universities in China. It has reached a strategic cooperation with U.S.News Global Education to provide scholarship opportunities for the outstanding contestants for study at worldclass universities. ICCT examines students’ ability to have effective interpersonal interaction in context from intercultural basics, differences and adaptation. This will help maximize students’ potential in such environments.
對(duì)于中學(xué)生而言,同外教溝通交流是進(jìn)行跨文化交際最直接普遍的方式。相對(duì)于中國教師,外教在英語教學(xué)方面具有先天優(yōu)勢(shì)——能幫助學(xué)生提升語言能力,并增進(jìn)對(duì)其他文化的了解。在中學(xué)生和外教的交往中更可以埋下文化理解和相互包容的種子,最終澆灌出共同繁榮的跨文化友誼之花。
For middle school students, the most direct and common way to engage in intercultural communication is interacting with their foreign teachers. When Compared with Chinese counterparts, foreign teachers have an inherent advantage as native speakers; they are able to help students not only improve their language skills,but also foster better understanding of other cultures.Connections between students and foreign teachers can also be seen like sowing seeds of cultural understanding and mutual tolerance, eventually growing the flowers of friendships and common prosperity.
跨文化交際能力大賽中涌現(xiàn)出一系列中學(xué)生佳作。他們用或生動(dòng)或平實(shí)的語言,描述了與外教相處的種種細(xì)節(jié)。以下為優(yōu)秀作品節(jié)選。
A series of fines pieces of writing sprang up from ICCT.These students described the details of getting along with their foreign teachers in either vivid or plain language. The following are excerpts from the fine pieces.
……那時(shí),我常常抱著吉他彈唱,而她坐在窗臺(tái)旁彈奏鋼琴。陽光灑在指尖,我們和著音符唱著英語歌。她會(huì)一處一處地糾正我的英語發(fā)音錯(cuò)誤,我們也會(huì)時(shí)不時(shí)地用英語歌詞交流感想。這種愜意的生活持續(xù)了很久。
在后來的期中考試中,我體會(huì)到了一種前所未有的感覺——我能夠聽懂英語聽力對(duì)話,也能夠迅速鎖定閱讀文章的關(guān)鍵。至于曾讓我頭疼的寫作,那天也仿佛冥冥之中有一股神奇的力量推動(dòng)著我順利完成。

…In that period, I always took my guitar and she played the piano by the window. With the sun shone on our fingertips,we broke into English song. She corrected my wrong pronunciation one by one when I was singing. Sometimes, we talked in English about poetic lyrics in those songs. These enjoyable moments lasted a long time.
In the following midterm English exam, I found a feeling never recorded, that is, I could almost understand the English dialogues in listening comprehension, and enabled to catch the core ideas of the essays in reading comprehension. As for the composition, a task which always had made me headache, it seemed that there was a magic power driving me to smoothly write it over at that day.

……每當(dāng)我跳錯(cuò)舞步的時(shí)候,弗蘭克都會(huì)鼓勵(lì)我??杀M管如此,我依舊會(huì)感到肌肉酸痛,畢竟我總是將所有精力都僅僅集中于肢體動(dòng)作上。后來,弗蘭克建議我們錄下我們的舞蹈視頻多作觀看。在看視頻的時(shí)候,我意識(shí)到自己跳得有多難看。我失望地坐在了地上??吹轿疫@樣,弗蘭克走過來告訴我:“我知道你非常想做到最好。但是如果不夠放松的話,你是沒法將感情投入到舞蹈中的。別把舞蹈看作是一項(xiàng)任務(wù),試著將它當(dāng)作是自我實(shí)現(xiàn)的途徑吧。”
像我這樣一個(gè)從來沒接觸過舞蹈的人,翩翩起舞實(shí)屬不易。幸虧有外教弗蘭克的指導(dǎo),我終于成功了。

Frank encouraged me when I got the steps wrong. Nevertheless, my muscles still felt painful since I was focusing on my body to make the right movements. Soon Frank suggested that we record our dance and watch it afterwards. Looking at the video, I realized how bad I danced. I sat down and fell into low spirits. Seeing that, Frank walked towards me, “I know you are eager to do your best, but you cannot devote your emotions to the dance if you are always so serious. Treat it not as a task, but as a self-fulfillment.”
…For a person who’d never danced before like me, it was difficult to get everything right. Thanks to my teacher Frank’s guidance, I worked things out eventually.

每個(gè)人都是獨(dú)立的個(gè)體,沒有人能夠改變另一個(gè)人,但是卻可以成為另一個(gè)人改變的理由。在我的生活中,雪莉就是這樣的人。作為英語學(xué)習(xí)委員,我比同學(xué)有更多的機(jī)會(huì)接近雪莉。雖然雪莉?qū)h語沒有天賦,但是她將自己的所有熱情傾注在中國文化上,我想這就是她來中國的原因吧。
你一定想不到她有多癡迷于中國的美食和詩。雪莉嘗過的中國美食數(shù)不勝數(shù)。每當(dāng)她對(duì)年糕這樣的中國傳統(tǒng)美食贊不絕口時(shí),一種自豪感就在我心里油然而生。至于中國詩詞,雪莉每天都會(huì)把唐詩記在她已經(jīng)寫得密密麻麻的小筆記本上,閑暇時(shí)就會(huì)拿出來背誦。
我為她的積極進(jìn)取所深深打動(dòng)。從她身上,我學(xué)會(huì)了一個(gè)道理:有一件所愛之事本就不易,既然有幸遇到,那就要珍惜不放棄!看著雪莉那副對(duì)中國文化著迷的面孔,我輕喃:“雪莉,于我而言,你遠(yuǎn)不止是一位外教老師?!?/p>

No one can change another, but one can be the motivation for another to change. In my life, Shirley is the person. As an English monitor, I have more opportunity to get close to her.She devotes all her enthusiasm to Chinese culture. I think it’s the reason of why she came here.
You can’t imagine how crazy about Chinese food and poem she is. As for Chinese food, she tried numerous types of flavor delicacies. Whenever she praises our traditional food such as rice cake, pride always flares up and fills with my heart. For Chinese poems, she every day recites Tang poetry with a tiny notebook on which notes are recorded in a dense pattern.
I am deeply touched by what her entrepreneurship: Never give up when coming across your favorite. Always gazing upon her beaming face, I spoke softly, “Shirley, you are far more than a foreign teacher to me.”

All nations are sharing weal and woe in one world. Supporting and promoting the development of all nations is the responsibility of the citizens of the world. Patriotism originates from China, but communication is a matter of the world.
不忘初心,前程有日月;牢記使命,勛績(jī)看今朝。加強(qiáng)國際人才交流合作,對(duì)中學(xué)生跨文化交際能力的培養(yǎng)任重而道遠(yuǎn)。
Remain true to the original aspiration, and promising future is reserved for us; Keep mission firmly in our mind, and meritorious contribution is awaiting us. For cultivating intercultural communicative competence of middle school students and strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, there is still a long way to go.
