        At the end of April 2017, the two authors had the privilege of visiting the Republic of Kalmyk in the Russian Federation, visiting the Manu Tokhoi, where Ayukhi Khan’s tent was located in the 18th century Tokhut Khanate. We also travelled in the Kalmyk grassland and the city of Elista, capital of the Republic of Kalmyk, and visited the Kalmyk’s The Institute of Humanities Research and talked with Kalmyk scholars, in (formerly the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Autonomous Republic of Kalmyk). This article is for the author’s travels and what they saw and thought.

        Three Yuan Manuscripts in Mongolian, Chinese from Kharakhot are introduced. The first one, a contract for hiring labor, written in Mongolian, is transcribed and translated into Chinese with some comparative remarks according to the same kind contract written in Chinese. The second one is a Chinese-Mongolian bilingual manuscript for grain tax collection. The third one written in Chinese is a report of a teacher of Isine Route Confucian school.

        During the Qing Dynasty, there were ten sumues of Mongols in Tarbagatai, one of which was Chakhar Mongols. This paper, based on the Manchu and Chinese documents of the Qing Dynasty and with combination of local chronicles, travel notes and translated Russian materials, try to analyze the origin of Chakhars in Tarbagatai, as well as the management of Chakhars in the Qing Dynasty and their social changes during 1960s and 1970s. This study may have contribution to the study of the local history of Northwest China and the history of Mongolian people.

        The Qing government conquered Jungaria and settled the rebellion of two Khojoos, and brought the north and south of Tianshan Mountain into the Chinese territory. Considering the national frontier defense, hundreds of karuns of different sizes had been set up along the border of Kazakhs, Buruts, Hookhan and in the interior of Xinjiang. Karun was the symbol of the national unity and the witness of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country and to defend the frontier to the death against foreign aggression. In this paper, taking the historical period as dividing line, we deal with the establishment and the structure of the karuns of Oirats from the upper three banners.

        In the Qing Dynasty, with the unification of the whole country and the closer contacts between different nationalities, the transportation links between the inland and the border areas inhabited by minority nationalities had a greater development than in previous dynasties. In the Qing Dynasty, the traffic in Xinjiang was mainly made up of the flying delivering system, post offices, delivering stations (military ponds) and Karun. In this paper, we introduce the post stations in Urumchi West Road, Jinghe County, Yili North Road and Yili South Road.

        Ever since ancient times, Qinghai has been an area where many nations have gone through migration, growing, being replaced and disappearing. When different languages meet, they have an impact on each other, for example they have kept different ingredients borrowed from other languages. This phenomenon causes cultural collision and fusion for different nations and witnesses the relationships between them and their development in history, also it tells the stories of nation’s growing. The study on the collision and fusion between Qinghai Chinese dialect and the Mongolian language can be of historic and realistic values.

        J.Juunai was not only a well-known singer of Jangar at home and abroad, but also an artist who had brought great controversy in the inheritance and research of Jangar. The main reason is that J.Juunai was a literary or intellectual man. He had published poetry and news reports in newspapers and magazines. At the same time, he also inherited the text of Jangar by both oral transmission and handwriting. Only by intensive reading of J.Junaai oral and handwritten versions of Jangar, this paper analysed the narrative and descriptive methods in his singing process, and discussed the commonness and characteristics of his singing style in comparative way, we can we correctly evaluate the value and status of the text of Jangar.
