The predecessor of The Peninsula Paris is a late nineteenth century classic French building， which was opened in 1908 as the \"Majestic Hotel\" as a witness of the best times in Paris in the early last century. In 1922， James Joyce， Proust， Picasso， Sergei Diaghilev and Igor Stravinsky had dinner here together； in 1928， American composer George Gershiwin stayed here and wrote the song \"an American in Paris\". In 1973， the end of the Vietnam War was declared， the \"Paris Peace Accords\" was negotiated by Henry Kissinger and signed right here in the Kléber Bar of the hotel. The Peninsula Paris has gathered top French craftsmen to restore the past glory of the aesthetic charm of the classical Haussmanian palace， with the whole reconstruction lasting 4 years and costing 430 million euros.
