1Chinese mobile company successfullypenetrating Myanmar market

October 6, 2016 (Xinhua) — China's Huawei is successfully penetrating Myanmar's mobile market, as it recently made partnership with KMD,Myanmar's foremost IT distribution company, as a new distributor for its products and solutions business. The partnership will affirm Huawei's strategic commitment to Myanmar as a key market, according to the Chinese company. Myanmar, with a rapidly growing information and communication technology (ICT) sector in recent years, is one of the most emerging markets for Huawei in Southeast Asia. The country has a mobile phone penetration rate of nearly 90 percent. Huawei enjoys the highest brand power in Myanmar for its ability to boost sales or gain market share, according to brand research “Spotlight on Myanmar,”surveyed by Britain-based WPP and U.S.-based Millward Brown companies.

        2Experts: Capital outflow bearable

October 8, 2016 (China Daily) — China's foreign exchange reserve shrank for the third consecutive month in September, but the capital outflow pressure is still within reasonable range, economists said. The reserve, the world's largest, stood at US$ 3.17 trillion in September, down by US$ 18.79 billion from August, according to data from the central bank on Friday. Xie Yaxuan, chief economist at China Merchants Securities Co., said that China is able to cope with external uncertainties. Xie added that the yuan has become more volatile after the central bank adopted a more market-oriented central parity rate system in August last year. Xie said the yuan's recent inclusion in the IMF's SDR would not have a major impact on the two-way capital flows.

October 10, 2016 (Xinhua) — Vietnam will continue to import two percent of its electricity demand from China and Laos in the coming years, according to an official of Vietnam Electricity (EVN). Currently, the country is importing electricity that accounts for 3.1 percent of its demand from China and Laos, said Ha. 6China aims to boost private investment with better financial services

October 12, 2016 (Reuters) — China hopes to boost private investment by improving financial services for small enterprises, its powerful state planner said in a document on Wednesday. Private investment has dropped to record lows and grew only 2.1 percent in the first eight months of the year. Nearly half of the 26 policy measures issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to boost private investment aim at improving financial services. They include encouraging policy and development banks to provide credit support for qualified small- and microfirms, and setting up investment funds in key areas to boost support for companies still in the initial growing stage. To ease financing pressures for small- and micro-firms, China will set up a national financing guarantee fund and push for full coverage by provincial credit re-guarantee institutions, the planner said.
