Met a Snake by Accident
Last weekend, my cousin Linlin came to my house. She said, “Let’s fly a kite.” I was very happy. This was the first time for me to fly a kite.
Linlin was so clever that she made a kite by herself. She drew a picture on the kite. It looked very beautiful.
“Where are you going to fly?” I asked Linlin.
“We will fly on the hill behind your house,” she said with a smile.
The hill was not high. There were trees and flowers on the hill. Linlin was running with the kite and I was running after her. The kite was flying high in sky. How happy we were!
Suddenly, we stopped. There was a snake in front of us. It made us shocked. How terrible it was!
“Don’t fear. Keep still,” I said to Linlin. We kept silent. I stamped1 my feet without saying any words. The snake was running away soon.
“Why did you stamp your feet?” Linlin asked me in a surprise.
“Snake is not good at seeing things, but it is good at listening to sounds,” I said to her, “When I was a child, my father told me when you meet a snake, you should keep quiet. It will not attack2 you until you are moving all the time.”
蔽液荛_(kāi)心。
彼χf(shuō)。
We heard that my parents calling us to have dinner so we returned down the hill to back home. I told the accident to my father as soon as I got home. My father said, “Snakes and people are also friends. We don’t attack them, and they won’t attack us.”
