Once upon a time a man had heard that in a place far away， there was a holy1 flame2 burning. So he left his home to find the holy flame and bring some back home. He thought， “When I have this light， then I will have happiness and all the people I love will have it too.”

曾經(jīng)有一個(gè)男人聽說在一個(gè)遙遠(yuǎn)的地方那兒有一束圣火在燃燒。于是，他離開家去尋找那束圣火并帶一些回家。他心想：“當(dāng)我擁有這束圣火時(shí)，我將擁有幸福，并且所有我愛的人都會(huì)擁有?！?/p>

He travelled far， far away and at last found the holy flame， with which he lit his light. On his way back， he had only one worry that his light could go out.

他一直走了很遠(yuǎn)很遠(yuǎn)，終于找到了圣火，他用圣火點(diǎn)燃了自己的燈。在他回去的路上，他只擔(dān)心一件事，他的燈可能會(huì)熄滅。

On his way home， he met someone who was freezing and didnt have any fire and who begged him to give him some of his fire. The man with the light hesitated3 for a moment. Wasnt his light too precious4， too holy to be given away for something ordinary like that？ Despite these doubts， he decided to give some of his light to the one who was freezing in the darkness.

在他回家的路上，他遇到了一個(gè)人。那個(gè)人已經(jīng)凍得不行，又沒有火，于是他向男人乞求分給他一些火。手持圣火的男人猶豫了一會(huì)，他的圣火難道不是非常珍貴非常神圣，怎么能因那么普通的事情就把它分給別人呢？盡管心有疑惑，他還是決定把圣火分給那個(gè)黑暗中受凍的人。

The man continued his journey home and when he had almost reached his house， a terrible thunderstorm started. He tried to protect his light from the rain， but in the end his light went out.

男人繼續(xù)回家的旅程，當(dāng)他快要到家的時(shí)候，一陣可怕的暴風(fēng)雨來了。他竭力保護(hù)他的圣火不被雨水淋著，可是，最后他的圣火還是熄滅了。

It was impossible to return the long way back to the place where the holy flame was burning， and he wouldnt have had enough strength to go back this far， but he was strong enough to return to the man whom he had helped.... And with his light， he could light his own again.

折回到圣火燃燒的地方已經(jīng)不可能，他也沒有力氣再走回那么遠(yuǎn)，但是他還有力氣回到他剛才幫助過的那個(gè)男人那里……然后用他的火再次點(diǎn)亮自己的圣火。
