【Abstract】Today，the music talent show emerges one after another，from the Voice of China，Chinese Idol，to Asian Wave，which are really dazzling and overwhelming for the audience.Increasing number of music programs come into view，which enables many musical works and musicians to be known and recognized by the public.Large number of talents and the support from the media has lead popular music to another peak，with music works frequently updating.In contrast，the education world seems to be indifferent，even repellent to the prosperous development of popular music.They still stay in a relatively closed environment，leaving behind the trend.This may result from China's examination-oriented education and guidance from parents and teachers.In traditional concept of the Chinese people，music is belittled and considered to be a form of entertainment and pastime，which does not to be studied for a long time.What's more，people do not want to engage in industries related to music.This paper explores the necessity and measures，and analyzes the significance to introduce popular music in high school music education.

1.The Necessity to Introduce Popular Music in High School Education

Recent years have witnessed the development of music，with increasing number of excellent musical works emerging.A lot of excellent musical works are role models for us.As an important form of human culture，good music reflects the reality and culture connotation of a nation，meets people's spiritual needs，and engraved with age and history，with more and more attention from the public.Today，popular music appeals the majority of young people，especially high school students，who are under great pressure of college entrance，academic stress，and boring leisure life.In this case，music cultivates their taste and become their main leisure.But the music education in high school is still in the closed state，with little contents related to popular music in the textbook.Most high school music education include no contents related to popular music.Despite the change of music course every few years，there is no substantial change in general.The music course cannot keep pace with the times or make adjustments based on students needs.Popular music is generally rejected by the music course.Due to the limitation of education system，education should be prudent，preventing adverse actions caused by individual factors in popular music.However，since people can get information from more extensive channels thanks to the development of technology，good education result can only be received by correct guidance，rather than blind avoiding.Therefore，high school music education should follow the pace of the times and strengthen the application of popular music in music course.Aware of this idea，many musicians and interested workers held the view that the introduction of popular music will bring novel impetus and vitality，which will help to increase the attractiveness of music course，to inspire students' interests in learning music，to guide students to a better way，to cultivate aesthetic ability，virtuosity，and correct values.Only in this way can education play its maximum role.

2.The Measures to Introduce Popular Music in High School Education

With the development of popular music，high school life is filled with all kinds of popular music，which leads to urgent demand from students of fashion factors in music course.Many music educators have come to realize this phenomenon and begin to focus on the positive significance of popular music.They think popular music can be used to develop students' interest and create a good environment for learning music.How to introduce popular music in music teaching is the urgent problem that needs to be solved.

2.1Guide Students with Clear Objectives in Music Education.Despite the various forms，music teaching should be focus on one objective.Popular music complex，filled with all kinds of elegant or inelegant music.In this case，introducing popular music in high school music education must under scientific screening，with discarding the dross and selecting the essential，eliminating the false and retaining the true.Music teaching should highlight the features，adhere to music-orientation idea，and always take music as the theme.Due to different appreciation abilities of the students，their understanding to classical music varies a lot.Under this circumstance，before teaching classical music，the teacher can start from popular music and select a piece of popular music that is highly correlated to the classical music to cultivate the students' interest.In this way，the reasonable introducing of popular music reduces teaching difficulty，and constructively improves the aesthetic abilities of the students at the same time.

2.2Time Significance to Develop Popular Music.Current teaching content of music education is dull and outdated，which will cause resentment for the students，rather than rise educational significance.Compared with the course content，popular music is more acceptable.Popular music comes from life，which is the record and expression of emotional experience，the author's view of social phenomena.This is the reason why popular music features in times and reality.Many popular music lyricists，equipped with high literacy，write lyrics with strong appreciation value.Therefore，when teaching high school music course，the teacher should analyze the value of music from multiple aspects，guide students to learn these music works behind the music，conduct profound analysis to these music works，and learn the connotation and practical significance of these music works.Many exciting music works，including："Sailor"，"Red Sun"，"A Brighter Future"，teach people to be brave when facing difficulties.Teachers should pay attention to the educational value of music works while appreciating.

2.3Set Positive Role Models for Students.Singers are the idol of many high school students.They are greatly influenced by the idols in their behaviors，thoughts，and opinions.Many idols has went through a lot of difficulties before success.Their experiences and stories can be great education materials.With the guidance of modern media，the idols have played largely their positive role.In recent years，many celebrities joined the charity sector.For example，Jet Li's founded One Foundation； Faye Wang and Li Yapeng organized Yan Ran Angel Fund.Therefore，teachers should pay more attention to the positive of the stars，guiding students to learn from the stars with positive effects，and to hold their own view to the stars with negative effects.In this way，popular music can contribute guidance to the education of the students.

2.4Change Teaching Mode and Actively Develop the Second Classroom.Music educators should actively develop the second classroom to assist music teaching，with fully utilization of campus radio，gallery，and display panels.Through publicizing positive and healthy popular music，holding music events regularly，the teacher can create a relaxed atmosphere on campus and develop students' aesthetic taste and the ability to distinguish right from wrong with music as the intermediary agent.

3 Significance of Introducing Popular Music in High School Music Education

3.1Helps students to develop their aesthetic abilities.Among the various types of music works that constantly change，the music works that accept by the public and become popular must be in line with the reality and public aesthetic.Many talented musicians have high literacy quality，such as Vincent Fang，Xiao Ke，and Yan Su.Learning popular music helps to improve the literacy quality of students，enhancing their abilities in expression，understanding and creating，and strengthen the nurturing role of popular music in high school music education.

3.2Helps to expand the horizons of the students.Simple analysis appreciation of music cannot meet the demands of the students，which forces educators to introduce excellent music works that is in line with the regulations.Music does not just serve for appreciation，but a knowledge supplement.Students can learn some outstanding music works other than textbook，with music as extracurricular knowledge.As an auxiliary role，music can expand students' knowledge，broaden their horizons，and improve the quality of teachers in the same process.

3.3Introduction of popular music in high school is imperative.As long as educators can correctly guide and fully utilize popular music，introduction of popular music will inevitably produce a good effect on education and play a positive role on the development of view of life and value.Teachers should make full use of the idol effect to guide students to face setbacks in life and handle the interpersonal issues.

“Know-how of lyre-playing，chess，calligraphy，painting，astronomy，and geography.” is the criteria that ancient people evaluate literacy level.Needless to say，music is valued greatly by men of literature and writing from ancient times.Along with the development of human society，people's spiritual and cultural needs are increasing correspondingly.Music，as a form of culture，is constantly improving，with increasing number of types and styles.Since the beginning of the 1930s，popular music has risen in China，with enthusiastic embracing by the young.The mushroomed popular music inevitably affect high school music education.High school music educators should gradually introduce popular music in the classroom，guide the students in a positive way，to increase students' abilities in aesthetic，music appreciation，understanding and analysis of language.Popular music should be fully utilized as a tool in high school education.
