        【Abstract】Today,the music talent show emerges one after another,from the Voice of China,Chinese Idol,to Asian Wave,which are really dazzling and overwhelming for the audience.Increasing number of music programs come into view,which enables many musical works and musicians to be known and recognized by the public.Large number of talents and the support from the media has lead popular music to another peak,with music works frequently updating.In contrast,the education world seems to be indifferent,even repellent to the prosperous development of popular music.They still stay in a relatively closed environment,leaving behind the trend.This may result from China's examination-oriented education and guidance from parents and teachers.In traditional concept of the Chinese people,music is belittled and considered to be a form of entertainment and pastime,which does not to be studied for a long time.What's more,people do not want to engage in industries related to music.This paper explores the necessity and measures,and analyzes the significance to introduce popular music in high school music education.

        1.The Necessity to Introduce Popular Music in High School Education

        Recent years have witnessed the development of music,with increasing number of excellent musical works emerging.A lot of excellent musical works are role models for us.As an important form of human culture,good music reflects the reality and culture connotation of a nation,meets people's spiritual needs,and engraved with age and history,with more and more attention from the public.Today,popular music appeals the majority of young people,especially high school students,who are under great pressure of college entrance,academic stress,and boring leisure life.In this case,music cultivates their taste and become their main leisure.But the music education in high school is still in the closed state,with little contents related to popular music in the textbook.Most high school music education include no contents related to popular music.Despite the change of music course every few years,there is no substantial change in general.The music course cannot keep pace with the times or make adjustments based on students needs.Popular music is generally rejected by the music course.Due to the limitation of education system,education should be prudent,preventing adverse actions caused by individual factors in popular music.However,since people can get information from more extensive channels thanks to the development of technology,good education result can only be received by correct guidance,rather than blind avoiding.Therefore,high school music education should follow the pace of the times and strengthen the application of popular music in music course.Aware of this idea,many musicians and interested workers held the view that the introduction of popular music will bring novel impetus and vitality,which will help to increase the attractiveness of music course,to inspire students' interests in learning music,to guide students to a better way,to cultivate aesthetic ability,virtuosity,and correct values.Only in this way can education play its maximum role.

        2.The Measures to Introduce Popular Music in High School Education

        With the development of popular music,high school life is filled with all kinds of popular music,which leads to urgent demand from students of fashion factors in music course.Many music educators have come to realize this phenomenon and begin to focus on the positive significance of popular music.They think popular music can be used to develop students' interest and create a good environment for learning music.How to introduce popular music in music teaching is the urgent problem that needs to be solved.

        2.1Guide Students with Clear Objectives in Music Education.Despite the various forms,music teaching should be focus on one objective.Popular music complex,filled with all kinds of elegant or inelegant music.In this case,introducing popular music in high school music education must under scientific screening,with discarding the dross and selecting the essential,eliminating the false and retaining the true.Music teaching should highlight the features,adhere to music-orientation idea,and always take music as the theme.Due to different appreciation abilities of the students,their understanding to classical music varies a lot.Under this circumstance,before teaching classical music,the teacher can start from popular music and select a piece of popular music that is highly correlated to the classical music to cultivate the students' interest.In this way,the reasonable introducing of popular music reduces teaching difficulty,and constructively improves the aesthetic abilities of the students at the same time.
