sob 指因傷心、恐懼等而“泣不成聲；啜泣；嗚咽”。

weep 較為正式，通常指因為悲傷而“哭泣；流淚”。

cry 為最通俗用詞，指因傷心、疼痛等而“哭泣”；一般多強調哭出聲來。
