The 2012 Olympic Games took place from July 27 to August 12 in London， England. Among thousands of athletes competing in over two dozen sports， there were more than a dozen sets of twins. In some cases， the twins were competing together as partners， such as in synchronized swimming1） or tennis doubles. But in others the twins competed in the same event， but in different classes. And one set of twins even competed against each other in their quest2） for gold.

After winning bronze in Beijing in 2008， this tennis dynamic3） duo took the gold in London. In addition， Mike Bryan won a bronze medal in mixed doubles. They are one of the highest ranked tennis doubles teams in history， winning more than 700 matches together.

Synchronized swimming seems to be a sport ideal for twins. The twin sisters competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics， placing fourth as a duet， and earning a bronze medal for their team performance. In 2012， they competed in the team event， and won the silver medal.

But in London， they lost out to hometown favorites6） Great Britain， taking the bronze.

The twin brothers are sprinters9） and competed together in the men's 4 x 400 relay， as well as against each other in the men's 400 m event. The twins are coached by their father， and also competed in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. In London， the twins finished 5th （Kévin） and 6th （Jonathan） in the 400 m race， their times separated by only 1/100th of a second， while their relay team in the 4 x 400 event finished 6th.

The twin brothers started rowing together at the University of Wisconsin. Grant was the first to qualify for the Olympics in the men's eight boat， and Ross claimed the final seat in the months leading up to the games. They were also champion shooters. Their boat did not medal， taking fourth in the men's eight final.

Another set of twins from Croatia are brothers Nenad and Neven Zugaj. As wrestlers， they compete in different weight categories， so they would not face each other as competitors. Nenad competes in the men's 84 kg class， while Neven is the 74 kg class. Neither brother medaled in 2012.
