I Introduction
Speaking of translation, people are likely to think of Yen Fu'stheory, namely, \"faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance\". It'sfirmly believed it can also be applied to the translation of non-attributive clauses. A translator should always remember that it'snot mere words but the meaning and the style of the original thatshould be rendered accurately into the target language. We'veknown that English and Chinese are two entirely differentlanguages with their separate grammars and idioms, syntax andstyles, cultural and social backgrounds. By \"adjustment of syntacticcomponents\" in translation, we mean precisely to rearrange theitems of a sentence in the original to suit the needs of the structurein the version.
