應用文通常指書信(明信片)、電子郵件、日記、便條(請假條、留言條、電話記錄、賀卡)、通知、啟事(失物啟事、招領啟事、征聘啟事)、發(fā)言稿等。

每一種應用文都有其相對固定的寫作格式，并且在措詞方面有正式和非正式之分。下面就幾種常見應用文的寫作格式作一歸納。

1. 書信

(1) 格式

英美常用的書信格式有兩種：一、寫信人的地址和寫信日期寫在右上角，收信人的稱呼寫在左上角，正文每段起行遞進5個字母。二、每段起行不遞進，段與段之間空一行，商業(yè)信件或公函多用此格式。間或第一段起行不遞進，自第二段起遞進五個字母。信封格式如下：收信人的姓名和地址寫在中間，寄信人的姓名和地址寫在左上角。在書寫地址時，第一行寫門牌號、街道名稱。若是鄉(xiāng)、鎮(zhèn)、村，則先寫村名，再寫鄉(xiāng)鎮(zhèn)名。第二行寫縣，市，省名及郵政編碼。若是國際郵件，還需在最后寫上國名。具體例子，可參見教材中的相關內容。

(2) 開場白與結束語

英語書信中常用的稱呼語是dear，如：Dear friend，Dear Dad等。正文的第一段常寫些客套話，表示感激或思念之情，如：Thank you for ...，It’s a pleasure for me to ...，Glad to get your ...，Haven’t seen you for ages；How are things getting on? 結束語應放在最后。常用的結束語有：Best wishes! Wish you good luck! Hope you are healthy. Write to me soon. Hope to hear from you. Give my best wishes to ... 最后，寫信人的姓名之前可用Yours，Yours sincerely，Yours truly，Yours loving等。

3. 發(fā)言稿

發(fā)言稿一般有三個部分：(1) 開場白(問候語、稱呼語、客套話等) (2) 正文 (3) 結束語(表示感謝、祝愿、希望等的話語)

4. 日記

寫日記時，第一行頂格寫月、日、星期幾，第一行末尾寫天氣情況。第二行起即為正文，格式與書信一致。日記的內容可詳可略，一般來說，記下當日發(fā)生的事即可，日記中多用過去時態(tài)，最好再寫點自己對此事的看法或感受。

5. 通知

通知的寫法不同于書信和日記。它要求簡明扼要地寫明時間、地點、事件、人物，落款處需要注明發(fā)通知的單位或個人姓名及時間，格式與漢語通知相同。

6. 便條

便條種類很多，常用的有請假條、電話記錄和留言條。便條常寫在紙條上，內容需簡明易懂，能說明問題即可。請假條和留言條的格式與書信一致。電話記錄，要求簡要地寫明打電話者和接電話人的姓名、日期、時間及電話內容大意，最后落款為接電話人的姓名。

7. 賀卡

賀卡通常分為節(jié)日賀卡、紀念日賀卡、生日賀卡、成功賀卡等。賀卡的語言要簡潔、明快，要以祝愿、祝賀為主題，抒發(fā)自己的內心情感。賀卡的書寫格式與書信相同。

(A) 假如你叫小明，最近你對所在學校的60名同學(30名男生，30名女生)進行了上網(wǎng)目的調查。下面是你的調查結果。請根據(jù)這個結果給校報主編寫一封100個詞左右的信。

(1) 報告應包括圖表所表示的內容。

(2) 敘述調查結果時要避免重復使用百分比。

(3) 應在報告中闡明自己觀點。

(4) 報告中不得出現(xiàn)真實地名、校名或人名。
