After being voted off the English television show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002， former contestants Chloe Staines， Lynsey Brown， Emma Beard， and Aimee Kearsley decided to form their own band， and the group CLEA was created. CLEA (a name formed by taking the first letter of each member's name) is a self-proclaimed POP band， and their album Trinity certainly fits right into the bounds of that category.Described on their Myspace as \"packed with bright and fizzy mainstream music splashed with buckets of primary coloured pop paint，\" Trinity is bubblegum sweet to the point of toothache.

CLEA initially signed on with 1967 Records and released their first single， Download It in 2003. After releasing their second single Stuck in the Middle in February 2004 which charted at number 23， member Chloe Staines decided to leave the band. CLEA's first album Identity Crisis failed to capture much attention and the group parted ways with 1967 records in late 2004. In September 2005， CLEA released the single We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off， a collaboration with the production group Da Playaz.CLEA's fourth single， Lucky Like That was released in June 2006 and charted at number 55 in the UK.

Since the release of Trinity， CLEA's second album， on July 3 2007 with Upside Records， they have continued to work hard promoting their particular brand of \"fun， edgy pop\".
