Pandora' Box

After Prometheus stole(steal～stole)fire from heaven(天上)and secretly brought it down to men，Zeus became hostile(敵對(duì)的)towards men.One day he commanded(命令)his son Hehaestus to mold(塑造)an image(形象)of a beautiful maiden out of clay（粘土）and asked the gods and godesses to give her some special(特別的)abilities(能力)，the power(能力)of telling lies(謊言)，for example.A charming(迷人的)young lady，she was the first woman that ever lived.Zeus called her Pandora.

Zeus decided to send her down with a box from heaven to men as a present.She was brought to Epimetheus，brother of Prometheus，and he joyfully(高興地)received(接納)her into his house.One day when her husband Epimetheus was out，she opened the box and out from it came strife(爭(zhēng)斗)and war(戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng))，plague(災(zāi)難)and sickness(疾病)and all other evils(罪惡).Only hope stayed within the box and never flew out.So men always have hope within their bosoms(胸中).
