A new study shows that theres a kind of food that canhelp with some of stress—walnuts. Walnuts are known tobe a healthy food. They have healthy fats and proteins2,which are good for the body and the mind. They may not bethe most popular food for students, but they have a positive effect3 both on stress andon the health of the body.
There were 80 students taking part in a study in the University of South Australia. One group of students was asked to eat about half a cup of walnuts every day for 16weeks. The other group of students was told not to eat walnuts for those 16 weeks.
The study found that the stress of schoolwork was having a negative effect onstudentsmental4 health and on the protein in their bodies. But for the people whohad been eating walnuts, those were all getting better.
