You will not do well on a test if youve chosen not to study, but there aresome quick and easy ways you can improve your test-taking abilities, even if thattest is coming up tomorrow.
Be confident
According to a study, the students who called themselves poor testers showedhigher stress before and during the exam. And testing anxiety1 can ruin2 a goodscore! If you allow yourself to believe that you are able to get a good score, thenyou will do better. Believe and you can make it.
Keep track3 of time
time. Youre going to get a lower score if you have to rush at the end because youwere too free with your time at the beginning of the test. Before the test, you shouldtake a few seconds to decide how much time you have per question.
If you find yourself struggling5 between two answer choices and yourealready over the question time limit6, circle the question and move on to others, some of which may be way easier. Come back to the difficult one if you have timeat the end.
Use the answers
The correct answer of a multiple-choice7 question is right there in front of you.The only thing you have to do is differentiate8 between similar answer choices tochoose the correct one.
Look for the words in answers like “never”or “always”. Words like that willoften eliminate9 so many correct statements. Besides, a test writer will often use verysimilar wording to test your ability to read carefully. Knowing these, you may find thecorrect answer much more quickly.
