Awakening Lion, meaning bravery and strength, is one of the intangible cultural heritages in China,which originated from the lion dance in the Tang Dynasty and finally got its new name in Guangdong Province by the Ming Dynasty.

Combining martial arts, dancing and music together, the Awakening Lion show is well loved by Zhongshan people, frequently performed on the occasion of opening ceremonies,traditional festivals and other celebrations,signifying a bright prospect.

Once I got an opportunity to closely watch a lion show, which is what I have been expecting for a long time.To start with, there went the gongs and drums loudly.Then, lion dancers, dressed in lion-skin costumes, showed with Nanquan and horse stance, followed by lion dancing flexibly;simultaneously,there was one wearing a smiling face mask,named

“Big Head Buddha”, holding a big palm leaf head fan to usher (引領(lǐng)) the lion.The lion's graceful and skillful movements attracted more and more people to gather and appreciate.Finally, when the lion jumped up high to get the Green, which is the most challenging part and also the climax of the show, the crowds were drowned in excitement and cheering with applause.

As the old saying goes, one minute on the stage takes ten-year practice off the stage.Not only does Awakening Lion embody China's excellent traditional culture, but also radiates the Chinese virtue of perseverance.It is precisely for this reason that we, the generation with the spirit of innovation, should shoulder the responsibility of spreading Chinese culture so that the heritage will continue to be carried forward endlessly.
