對哈萊的名字早有耳聞，對她的身份“改稿專家”充滿好奇，對女性專家我總是會特別關(guān)注……因此，在新華社外事局和國際部的幫助下，我有幸來到哈萊家里，坐下來聽她講她與中國遙遠而親切的故事。

說遙遠，是因為她來自埃及；說親切，是因為她從小就對中國感興趣。從1996年至今她已在新華社連續(xù)工作了26年。這26年的工作內(nèi)容主要是改稿。什么是改稿呢？她說就是對記者發(fā)來的外文稿件進行翻譯、修改、潤色。新華社國際部辛儉強老師用一句話概括就是，對接中外話語系統(tǒng)。她也會參加一些比較重要的采訪報道，比如多次采訪阿拉伯國家訪華政要、駐華使節(jié)、中國中東問題特使等高級官員及中東問題專家，其中數(shù)十篇稿件被埃及最具影響力的金字塔報、埃及中東通訊社等主流媒體采用。2019年參與的報道《歸家之鑰——一個敘利亞難民的逃難故事》獲評新華社社級優(yōu)秀新聞作品。她還參與了《中國軍隊》雜志阿文版翻譯工作，已經(jīng)有11年了；主要譯著有《“一帶一路”100個全球故事》《構(gòu)建人類命運共同體》等。陪同我采訪的新華社老師不時插話，他們說：“哈萊絕對可以稱得上是‘勞?！！彼?，她獲得過很多獎項，比如2017年獲得新華社國際部榮譽證書，2020年獲得新華社“特別貢獻和長期服務(wù)獎”，2021年獲得中國政府友誼獎，2022年被中國譯協(xié)授予“翻譯中國外籍翻譯家”榮譽稱號。她還多次作為新華社外籍專家代表受邀參加外國專家活動，比如2018年參加在人民大會堂舉辦的改革開放40周年慶?；顒?，2019年參加在人民大會堂舉辦的國慶70周年外國專家招待會，2022年參加李克強總理同在華外國專家舉行的新春座談會，等等。

I have heard of Hala’s name for a long time,and I’m curious about her identity as a “revising expert.” I always pay special attention to female experts.Therefore,with the help of the Foreign Affairs Bureau and the International Affairs Department of Xinhua News Agency,I was honored to come to Hala’s home and listen to her stories about China.

Hala comes from Egypt,but she has been enthusiastic about China since childhood.Hala has worked at Xinhua News Agency for 26 consecutive years since 1996.These 26 years of work are mainly about revising.What is revising? According to Hala,it means translating,reviewing,and polishing up the foreign-language articles sent by journalists.Xin Jianqiang,from the International Affairs Department of Xinhua News Agency,summed it up in one phrase: docking Chinese and foreign language systems.Hala also participated in essential interviews,including Arab dignitaries visiting China,diplomatic envoys to China,Chinese special envoys on the Middle East,and other senior offlcials and experts on the Middle East.The most influential newspaper,Pyramid in Egypt,the Egyptian Middle East News Agency,and other mainstream media published dozens of Hala’s interviews.In 2019,her reportThe Key to Home-A Syrian Refugee’s Escapewas awarded the Xinhua News Agency’s Outstanding News Report.She has also been involved in translating the Arabic edition of the magazineChina Armed Forcesfor 11 years.Her principal translations includeThe Belt and Road: People with StoriesandBuilding a Community of Shared Future for Mankind.The experts from Xinhua News Agency who accompanied me during the interview interjected at intervals said,“Hala is worth being called a ‘model worker.’” She has received many awards,such as the Certiflcate of Honor from the International Affairs Department of Xinhua News Agency in 2017,the “Special Contribution and Long Service Award” of Xinhua News Agency in 2020,the “Chinese Government Friendship Award” in 2021,and the honorary title of “Foreign Translator of China” by the China Translation Association in 2022.She has also been invited as a representative of foreign experts of Xinhua News Agency many times to attend foreign experts’activities,such as the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up celebration at the Great Hall of the People in 2018,the reception for foreign experts on the 70th anniversary of the National Day at the Great Hall of the People in 2019,and the New Year symposium with Premier Li Keqiang and foreign experts in China in 2022,etc.

加入新華社，夢想變成現(xiàn)實

哈萊從小就對中國的悠久歷史和燦爛文化感興趣，每當在報紙上看到關(guān)于中國獨特文化方面的文章，都會剪下來保存。日積月累，她竟然剪貼出一本關(guān)于中國的“筆記本”。

哈萊生活在一個溫馨和睦的大家庭，家中有五個兄弟姐妹。父母都十分開明，特別重視對孩子們的教育?，F(xiàn)在已經(jīng)成為兩個孩子的媽媽、成為大專家的哈萊仍然不掩飾對父母的愛與依賴?！敖o爸爸打電話，就像給手機充電?！碑斈旯R在大學(xué)期間同學(xué)們都選學(xué)英語或者法語，而她要選學(xué)中文的決定卻得到了父親的支持?！案赣H是工程師，他的視野很寬，經(jīng)常往家里帶報刊，看書也很多。父親覺得我的選擇很好，因為與別人不同。我高考分很高，所以考上了埃及艾因·夏姆斯大學(xué)語言學(xué)院漢語系。30年前學(xué)習(xí)中文的埃及人很少，我可以選英語系或者法語系，但是我選擇了漢語系。通過學(xué)習(xí)漢語，我感受到了中華文明的博大精深。1992年，新華社記者來報道我就讀大學(xué)的文化周活動，我當時是文化周活動的主持人。我親眼看到他們忙著采訪和拍攝，那時我就非常期待自己畢業(yè)后也能加入新華社?！?/p>

有一句歌詞唱的是：有夢想誰都了不起。我想說，有夢想沒有什么了不起，去努力實現(xiàn)夢想才真的了不起。

懷抱著學(xué)中文、到新華社、去中國的夢想，哈萊一直努力前行著?！?996年，我的夢想變?yōu)楝F(xiàn)實，我每天都能在新華社駐開羅的中東總分社阿文編輯部工作和學(xué)習(xí)，非常開心。”經(jīng)過15年孜孜以求的勤奮學(xué)習(xí)、工作，2011年年底，哈萊終于有幸被選派到新華社總部工作，來到北京、來到中國?！斑@是我的人生新旅程，我感到特別興奮。因為又能見到以前的老同事和老朋友們了。我很幸運能來到這個大家庭，非常感謝他們對我的熱情接待。那時候我感覺我與中國有著美麗的情緣。一年又一年，我對新華社的愛已經(jīng)深深地滲入了我的血液里?！?020年，哈萊的大兒子要回埃及參加高考，所以目前她的丈夫帶著兩個兒子在埃及生活，由于疫情，這幾年他們?nèi)乙恢睕]有團聚。她一個人在北京生活——想到此，我突然有點心疼。

那天，我剛進她家的時候，心里是有點詫異的。因為在我的想象中，外國專家的住所應(yīng)該是很氣派、很寬敞的。當然因為她是一個人住，所以租住的房子是一個大開間公寓，和我單身的時候住的公寓是一樣的。是的，她現(xiàn)在就是單身住在中國。為什么不回埃及和家人團聚呢？當然是舍不得，舍不得新華社。

Join Xinhua News Agency and Turn Dream into Reality

Since childhood,Hala has been interested in China’s long history and brilliant civilization.Whenever she read an article about China’s unique culture in the newspaper,she cut it out and saved it.So,she has pasted a “notebook” about China over the years.

Hala lives in a warm and harmonious family with flve siblings.Their parents are enlightened and attach great importance to the children’s education.Although Hala takes on the role of a mother of two children and a great expert,she still does not hide her love and dependence on her parents.“Calling Dad is as normal as charging my phone.” During university,Hala’s decision to major in Chinese when her classmates chose English or French was supported by her father.“My father is an engineer with a broad horizon,always bringing newspapers and magazines home and reading many books.He supported my decision because it was different from others.I scored high on the college entrance exam,so I entered the Chinese language department at the Faculty of Languages at Ain Shams University in Egypt.There were very few Egyptians learning Chinese 30 years ago.I could have chosen the department of English or French,but I flnally chose the Chinese.In 1992,journalists from Xinhua News Agency came to cover cultural week at the university,and I hosted the cultural week activities.I witnessed how busy they were covering and fllming the event,and at that time,I was strongly looking forward to joining Xinhua News Agency after graduation.”

There is a lyric that says,“Anyone who has a dream is amazing.” I want to say that there is nothing extraordinary about having a dream.What is fantastic is trying your best to achieve it.

With the dream of learning Chinese,joining Xinhua News Agency,and going to China,Hala has been striving forward.“In 1996,my dream became a reality.I was always thrilled to work and study daily in the Arabic editorial department of Xinhua’s Middle East general branch in Cairo.” After 15 years of diligence,at the end of 2011,Hala was fortunately selected to work at Xinhua’s headquarters in Beijing,China.“This is a new journey in my life.I feel particularly excited to meet my former colleagues and old friends again.I am fortunate to be in this big family and grateful for their warm reception.At that time,I felt I had a beautiful relationship with China.Year after year,my love for Xinhua News Agency has deeply penetrated my blood.” In 2020,Hala’s eldest son returned to Egypt for his college entrance exam,so her husband is currently living in Egypt with their two sons.Due to the epidemic,the family has not reunited in the past few years.The thought of her living alone in Beijing makes me a little heartbroken.

I was a little surprised when I flrst entered her house that day.In my imagination,the residence of a foreign expert should be very grand and spacious.But,since she lives alone,she rents a large-bay apartment,same as the one I lived in when I was single.Yes,now she lives alone in China.So why didn’t she go back to Egypt to live with her family? It is because she is reluctant to part with Xinhua News Agency.

“在工作當中，我有幸見證中國的開放和發(fā)展。我跟中國同事們參加報道世界和平論壇、亞洲文明對話大會、世園會、服貿(mào)會、進博會、中阿博覽會，寫了好多稿件，寫了好多中國故事，讓阿拉伯世界更多地了解中國。通過這些采訪報道和深入了解，我對中國更加熱愛了。在新華社工作的26年，我親身見證和感受到了在中國共產(chǎn)黨的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下，中國取得的偉大進步和成就。通過翻譯和改稿工作，我對中國的感情也越來越深厚，對中國國情和發(fā)展理念的理解越來越深刻。這鼓勵我盡最大的努力通過熟稔的語言駕馭能力和精準的翻譯潤色能力，向國際社會更好地講述中國故事。我也很高興能夠通過這個工作向世界展現(xiàn)中國發(fā)生的巨變?！惫R的中文極好，講起話來可以用滔滔不絕來形容。那興奮的神情和發(fā)光的眼眸，讓我覺得我替她油然而生的那點情愫有些多余了。

在中國，感受古老與現(xiàn)代

其實，哈萊早在到新華社工作之前就于1994年在她上大學(xué)三年級的時候，到北京語言大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)了一年漢語。那是她第一次來中國?！澳菚r，中國在我眼里就是我來之前想象的那樣的文明古國。在埃及人眼中，中國是文明古國，中國人勤奮、努力、能干、謙虛、善良、和諧?！碑敃r，她不僅學(xué)習(xí)漢語，還到處旅行，長城、天壇、故宮，還有很多小鎮(zhèn)，她說，中國的一切都讓人驚嘆。中國是一個很有魅力的國家，當外國人第一次來到中國，總會有好多地方吸引他們，比如中國人的熱情好客、中國的美食、中國的文化和中國的音樂?！爱敃r，我的中國朋友們耐心地教我中文、幫助我盡快地適應(yīng)中國的生活。我還有過一次難忘的旅行，那時去桂林坐火車要三天兩夜，現(xiàn)在坐高鐵只需要10小時左右。當時，中國社會還沒有這么富裕，市場上的進口產(chǎn)品很少見，不像現(xiàn)在那么多樣化。但是這個對我來說不算問題。我很享受在中國的生活?！?/p>

17年后，也就是2011年年底，哈萊再次來到北京，進入新華社總部，這是她第二次來到中國。再次來到中國，哈萊實實在在地感受到了中國發(fā)生的翻天覆地的變化?！敖?jīng)濟蒸蒸日上，科技創(chuàng)新日新月異，現(xiàn)代化的城市、一流的交通基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施特別是高鐵讓人震撼。中國普通人的生活也得到了巨大改善和提高，便捷支付、網(wǎng)購、快遞、共享單車等，出門只需要帶鑰匙和手機，我感到生活太方便了。讓我印象深刻的是中國可以在很短的時間內(nèi)圓滿完成任何任務(wù)，這就是中國速度。讓我很佩服的還有老年人運用智能技術(shù)的能力。中國是一個讓外國人覺得很舒適的國家。中國不僅古老而且現(xiàn)代。”

“In my work,I have the honor of witnessing China’s opening up and development.My Chinese colleagues and I participated in the coverage of the World Peace Forum,the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilization,the World Horticultural Exposition,the International Fair for Trade in Services,and the China-Arab States Expo.We wrote many articles and stories about China so that the Arabs could learn more about China.Through these interviews and in-depth understanding,I have become more passionate about China.During my 26 years working at Xinhua News Agency,I have personally witnessed and felt the great progress and achievements made by China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.By translating and revising,my affection for China grows deeper,and so does my understanding of its national conditions and development ideas.This encourages me to do my best to tell China’s story to the international community through my proflcient language skills and precise translation and polish-ups ability.I am also happy to be able to show the world the great changes that have taken place in China through my work.” Hala’s Chinese is so excellent that Chinese words roll off her lips in a constant flow.The ecstasy on her face and the sparkle in her eyes made me feel a little redundant in the sentimentality I felt for her.

Experience the Ancient and the Modern in China

Hala learned Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University for one year in 1994 during her third year of university before working at Xinhua News Agency.That was her flrst visit to China.“At that time,China was,in my eyes,an ancient civilization that I had imagined before I came.In the eyes of Egyptians,China is an ancient civilization,and Chinese people are diligent,hard-working,capable,humble,kind,and harmonious.” Hala learned Chinese and traveled a lot,such as to the Great Wall,the Temple of Heaven,the Forbidden City,and many small towns.She said that everything in China was excellent.China is a charming country.When foreigners come to China for the first time,there are always so many aspects that attract them,such as Chinese hospitality,Chinese food,Chinese culture,and Chinese music.“At that time,my Chinese friends taught me Chinese patiently and helped me to adapt to life in China as soon as possible.I also had an unforgettable trip to Guilin,where it took three days and two nights by train,but now it only takes about 10 hours by high-speed rail.Then Chinese society was not so rich,and the imported products in the market were rare and not as diverse as now.But this was not a problem for me.I enjoyed my life in China.”

Seventeen years later,at the end of 2011,Hala returned to Beijing to join the headquarters of Xinhua News Agency.This is her second visit to China.Once again in China,Hala could feel the earth-quacking changes in China.“The economy is booming; technology and innovation are changing; the modern cities and flrst-class transportation infrastructure,especially the high-speed rail,are stunning.The life of ordinary Chinese people has also been greatly improved with convenient payment,online shopping,express delivery,shared bicycles,etc.People only need to bring their keys and cell phones when going out.I feel that life is too convenient.What impresses me most is that China can complete any task quickly,which quickly What I also admire is the ability of the elderly to use intelligent technology.China is a country where foreigners feel comfortable.China is not only ancient but also modern.”

哈萊的家不大，但是家門口的河很遠、很長。河兩旁綠樹成蔭，我想象著如果在黎明或黃昏，那景色實在是怡人。哈萊平日里十分喜歡傍晚沿著河邊和不同年齡的“陌生人”散步、跑步，那時候她覺得自己真正地融入了中國。“我希望能有越來越多的外國友人認識到真實的中國，跟我一樣愛上中國?！蹦翘?，我們請的攝影師倪天勇先生，用鏡頭在河邊、橋上、綠蔭中給哈萊留下了很多美好的瞬間。每一張照片，哈萊都露出少女一樣甜甜的笑容，那一刻，我也很幸福。

我替她幸福，這位來自阿拉伯世界的了不起的女性。受到中國文化和阿拉伯文化共同滋養(yǎng)的哈萊，處處體現(xiàn)著一種修養(yǎng)、優(yōu)雅、恬淡。為了今天的采訪，她特意穿上一身出席重要活動才會穿的正裝。她給我們準備了水果、點心等。出門前，她特意在鏡子前仔細查看妝容，問我這樣的發(fā)型行不行。我開玩笑地跟她說，一定行，因為你是畫家的夫人，怎么可能不行。她笑了。

說到中華文化和阿拉伯文化，哈萊很有心得。她說，中華文化和阿拉伯文化是兩種獨特的文化，是世界文明的重要組成部分，為世界文化的豐富性作出了杰出貢獻。中華文化和阿拉伯文化有著各自的魅力，比如在語言、文學(xué)、哲學(xué)、詩歌、繪畫、風(fēng)俗習(xí)慣、傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日等方面。近些年，隨著中國影響力不斷提升，喜歡中華文化的外國人越來越多。她說，以前認為在世界上最能夠代表中華文化符號的是中文、長城和龍，后來發(fā)現(xiàn)還有中醫(yī)、武術(shù)、書法、剪紙、茶等。這些中華文化的不同側(cè)面讓外國民眾喜歡上中國。哈萊很喜歡中國茶，并且經(jīng)常到馬連道的茶城買茶送給在不同國家生活的姐姐、弟弟和妹妹們。

哈萊認為，多樣性是阿拉伯文化的魅力，提到阿拉伯文化，我們一定會想到金字塔、綠洲的醫(yī)療旅游、沙漠拉力賽，阿拉伯傳統(tǒng)服飾、美食和咖啡，還有《一千零一夜》故事集等。阿拉伯文化以埃及、伊拉克、也門和阿拉伯半島出現(xiàn)的許多文明為基礎(chǔ)，給世界留下了很多文物古跡和文化藝術(shù)。雖然時代在不斷發(fā)展變化，但中華文化和阿拉伯文化仍在繼續(xù)，代代相傳。這就是兩種文化的魅力所在。

Hala’s home is not big,but the river in front of it is far and long.The river is lined with trees.I imagine that the scenery would be delightful at dawn or dusk.When she feels truly immersed in China,Hala enjoys walking and running along the river in the evenings with“strangers” of all ages.“I hope more and more foreigners will get to know the real China and fall in love with it as I did.” On that day,Mr.Ni Tianyong,the photographer we invited,used his lens to leave many beautiful moments for Hala by the river,on the bridge,and in the greenery.In each photo,Hala shows a sweet smile like a young girl.At that moment,I was also pretty happy.

I feel happy for this amazing woman from the Arab.Nourished by both Chinese and Arab cultures,Hala embodies cultivation,elegance,and calmness.For this interview,she specially put on a formal dress that she would only wear for an important event.In addition,she prepared fruits and snacks for us.Before leaving home,she checked her makeup carefully in front of the mirror and asked me if this hairdo would work.I jokingly told her that it did work.She was the painter’s wife,so how could it not work? She laughed.

When it comes to Chinese and Arab cultures,Hala is very knowledgeable.She said that Chinese culture and Arab culture are two unique cultures that are essential components of world civilization and have made outstanding contributions to the richness of world culture.Chinese culture and Arab culture have their charms,such as in language,literature,philosophy,poetry,painting,customs,traditional festivals,and so on.As China’s influence continues to grow,more and more foreigners have been enjoying Chinese culture in recent years.She said she used to think that the world’s most representative Chinese cultural symbols were the Chinese language,the Great Wall,and dragons.Still,later she found that there were also Chinese medicine,martial arts,calligraphy,paper-cutting,and tea.These different aspects of Chinese culture make foreign people like China.Hala loves Chinese tea and often goes to the tea town in Maliandao to buy tea for her sister,brother,and sisters who live in different countries.

According to Hala,diversity is the charm of Arab culture.When referring to Arab culture,we will think of the pyramids,medical tourism in oases,desert rallies,traditional Arab costumes,food and coffee,andTales from the thousand and one nights.Based on the many civilizations that emerged in Egypt,Iraq,Yemen,and the Arabian Peninsula,Arab culture has left the world with many heritage sites and cultural arts.Although times are constantly changing,Chinese culture and Arab culture continue to be passed on from generation to generation.This is what makes the two cultures so fascinating.

改稿，就是把文章變成精彩的故事

“隨著中國的不斷強大，作為世界第二大經(jīng)濟體，中國已經(jīng)成為世界新聞中心之一。隨著新華社在世界媒體中的影響力逐漸增強，作為新華社的改稿專家更要仔細嚴肅、認真負責(zé)，不僅要了解最新的國際國內(nèi)事件，還要具有高度的團隊精神。此外，改稿專家一定要用他所有的語言能力和工作經(jīng)驗、用最合適的方式來改新聞消息、報道、綜述、特稿或評論?！惫R這樣深刻地認識自己的工作。

她說，改稿工作讓她有機會讓世界讀懂真實的中國。比如，中國在發(fā)展經(jīng)濟、消除貧困、環(huán)境保護等方面的發(fā)展，“一帶一路”國際合作的豐富成果，構(gòu)建人類命運共同體的積極進展。讓世界看到在當今復(fù)雜的國際環(huán)境下，中國人民在中國共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下取得了巨大的成就，中國是國際社會中積極有為的一員，在不斷地為人類文明發(fā)展作出新的貢獻。“雖然有時一句話、一個詞語甚至一個字都要非常認真仔細地反復(fù)審核，但是把文章改成精彩的好故事之后，我會感到很高興。我認為，這正是這個工作崗位的魅力所在?！?/p>

在新華社工作的這段時間里，哈萊經(jīng)歷了許多讓人難忘的時刻，“許多中國的重要歷史時刻，也是人類歷史上的重要時刻，比如香港、澳門回歸，2008年北京奧運會，改革開放40周年，國慶70周年，中國共產(chǎn)黨成立100周年等重大事件，都是讓我難忘的新聞事件。這些都向世界證明了‘有志者事竟成’是中國人一直以來的智慧?！彼f，在翻譯和修改稿件的時候，經(jīng)常被感動。比如，在修改關(guān)于抗擊疫情稿件的時候，看到中埃兩國音樂家攜手奉獻的“云端交響音樂會”，她感受到人間大愛、感受到中阿“好朋友、好伙伴、好兄弟”般的相互支持，對未來中阿關(guān)系和中阿友誼充滿信心和期待。

坐在一旁的新華社國際部的老師說，改稿不同于翻譯。翻譯是正確，改稿是更好。新華社的大稿、特稿很多，需要的改稿專家不僅多而且水平要高。比如，把一篇中文稿件改成阿拉伯語，就要像一個阿拉伯人說的、寫的。改稿專家是要起到話語體系對接的作用。要對從分社發(fā)來的稿子的內(nèi)容和表述等各方面把關(guān)。這項工作責(zé)任大、壓力大，所以專家們很辛苦。“哈萊非常勤奮、辛苦，但是從來不說。直到有一次她病得直接倒在地上，我們才發(fā)現(xiàn)……”

Revising is All About Turning Articles into Great Stories

“With the development of China as the second largest economy in the world,China has become one of the world’s news centers.As the influence of Xinhua News Agency in the world media gradually increases,revising experts of Xinhua News Agency must be careful.They must be serious,conscientious,and responsible for understanding the latest international and domestic events.In addition,they must fully use their language skills,work experience,and the most appropriate way to revise news,reports,summaries,feature articles,or commentaries.”Hala understands her job in this profound way.

She said the revision work allowed her to help the world understand the real China.For example,China’s development in economic growth,poverty alleviation,and environmental protection,the rich international cooperation achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative,and the positive progress in the construction of a Community of Shared Future for Mankind.Let the world see that under today’s complex international environment,the Chinese people have to make outstanding achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.China is an active member of the international community,constantly creating new contributions to the development of human civilization.“Although sometimes a sentence,a phrase,or even a word has to be reviewed over and over again carefully,I will feel happy after changing the article into a wonderful story.I think that is what makes this work so attractive.”

While working at Xinhua News Agency,Hala has experienced many unforgettable moments.“Many important historical moments in China are also signiflcant in human history,such as the return of Hong Kong and Macau,the 2008 Beijing Olympics,the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up,the 70th anniversary of the National Day,the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and other major events.They are all unforgettable events for me.These prove to the world that ‘where there is a will,there is a way,is the wisdom of Chinese people.” She said she is often touched during translation and revision.For example,when revising the manuscript about the flght against the epidemic,she saw the “Online Symphony Concert in the Clouds” dedicated by the musicians of China and Egypt.She felt the great love of the world and the mutual support of China and Afghanistan as “good friends,good partners,and good brothers.” She was full of confldence and expectation for future Sino-Arab relations and Sino-Arab friendship.

An expert from the International Affairs Department of Xinhua News Agency sitting on the side said that revising differs from translating.Translation needs to be correct while rewriting is supposed to be better.Xinhua News Agency has many long and unique articles,which require not only more revising experts but also a high level.For example,changing a Chinese report into Arabic has to be spoken and written like an Arab.The revising experts are to play a role in the docking of the discourse system.They must check all aspects of the content and presentation of the manuscripts sent from the branch.This work is of great responsibility and stress,so the experts work very hard.“Hala was very hard-working and diligent but never complained about anything.It wasn’t until one time she was so sick that she fell straight to the floor that we found out....”

哈萊接過話茬說：“阿文室領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和同事們，這么多年來一直給予了我最大的指引、鼓勵、支持和厚愛。我覺得我們就是一家人，都有很好的團隊精神，新華社同事們的專業(yè)和奉獻精神也感染著我，我們互相學(xué)習(xí)、互相幫助，為了把工作做到最好。”

兩個兒子，都是友誼小使者

2011年至2020年，哈萊的丈夫和兩個兒子都一直陪伴她在中國生活。她的丈夫是一名畫家，工作是做平面設(shè)計，日常通過網(wǎng)絡(luò)與遠在埃及的單位溝通聯(lián)系。剛來中國的時候，小兒子還在上幼兒園，后來兩個兒子都上了使館的學(xué)校。大兒子在中國待的時間和在埃及待的時間一樣多，而小兒子在中國待的時間比在埃及待的時間要多。“我的家人非常熱愛中國，他們有很多中國朋友。周末時，他們與中國朋友一起出去玩、吃飯、運動、參觀博物館等?！庇捎谒麄円獏⒓影＜暗母呖?，所以就通過網(wǎng)絡(luò)上埃及的課。因為時差的原因，哈萊經(jīng)常在晚上陪著孩子們上課、白天還要上班，但是她說不能讓家人失望、讓單位失望。

孩子們也沒有讓她失望。大兒子計算機編程非常棒，還會包餃子和做煎餅果子。小兒子回到埃及上學(xué)后，他的同學(xué)一直問他很多關(guān)于中國的問題。他就請圖書館館長組織座談會，向朋友們介紹中國、回答朋友們的提問。座談會上，他談了他心愛的中國朋友、中國美麗的風(fēng)景、中國人對運動的熱愛、中國人的健康生活、中國的現(xiàn)代生活，以及中國美食特別是餃子和煎餅。學(xué)校校長在學(xué)校網(wǎng)站上發(fā)了座談會的視頻，受到了很多人的贊賞，吸引了很多“粉絲”，小兒子還被授予“中埃青年大使”的稱號。我想那些“粉絲”中一定有人未來成為“哈萊”。

哈萊說，埃及的高考也非常難。比如她上的埃及艾因·夏姆斯大學(xué)相當于中國的清華大學(xué)。她希望兒子們也能考上自己理想的大學(xué)，成為中阿友誼的使者。

哈萊說，她的父母和兄弟姐妹們都沒有來過中國，但是疫情前她每次回埃及休假，或者現(xiàn)在和親人、朋友們打電話，談得最多的就是中國。她把她看到的、感受到的告訴他們：從社區(qū)環(huán)境改善到生活服務(wù)升級，中國人的生活越來越便利。中國是穩(wěn)定和安全的地方，中國人和在中國的外國人都受到了很好的保護。值得敬佩的是，在全球疫情肆虐、經(jīng)濟衰退的背景下，中國還在竭盡全力完成各項任務(wù)。在過去10年里，約1億中國人擺脫貧困。生活在中國是一件非常幸運的事情?！叭绻靡痪湓捊榻B中國，我會說：如果你想看到未來的樣子，那去中國吧！”

Hala took the conversation and said,“The leaders and colleagues here have given me the greatest guidance,encouragement,support,and love for so many years.I feel that we are a family and all have a great team spirit.The professionalism and dedication of my colleagues at Xinhua News Agency have infected me.We learned from each other and helped each other to do our best.”

Both of Hala’s Two Sons Are Little Messengers of Friendship

From 2011 to 2020,Hala’s husband and two sons lived with her in China.Her husband,a painter,works as a graphic designer and communicates with his workplace in Egypt through the Internet.When she came to China for the flrst time,her youngest son was still in kindergarten,and later her two sons attended the embassy school.The elder son spends as much time in China as he does in Egypt,while the younger son spends more time in China than in Egypt.“My family loves China very much,and they have a lot of Chinese friends.On weekends,they hang out,eat,do sports,and visit museums with their Chinese friends.”They took Egyptian classes via the Internet because they had to take the Egyptian college entrance exam.Due to jet lag,Hala often attends classes with her children at night and works during the day.However,she said she couldn’t let her family or the agency down.

In turn,her children didn’t let her down,either.The eldest son is great at computer programming and making dumplings and pancakes.When the younger son returned to school in Egypt,his classmates kept asking him many questions about China.He then asked the librarian to organize a seminar introducing China to his friends and answering their questions.During the symposium,he talked about his beloved Chinese friends,the beautiful scenery of China,Chinese people’s love for sports,the healthy life of Chinese people,modern life in China,and Chinese food,especially dumplings and pancakes.The school principal posted the seminar video on the school website,which was appreciated by many people and attracted a lot of “fans”.As a result,the youngest son was awarded the title of “Young Ambassador of China and Egypt”.I think some of those “fans” will become“Hala” in the future.

Hala said the college entrance exams in Egypt were also challenging.For example,the Ain Shams University in Egypt that she attended is as famous as Tsinghua University in China.She hopes her sons will also be admitted to their ideal universities and become ambassadors of Sino-Arab friendship.

Hala said her parents and siblings have never been to China,but whenever she went back to Egypt on vacation before the epidemic or now talks to her relatives and friends on the phone,China is what she talks about most.She told them what she saw and felt.Life in China is getting more convenient,from the improved community environment to the upgraded living services.China is stable and safe.Both Chinese and foreigners in China are well protected.It is admirable that against the backdrop of the world’s raging epidemic and economic recession,China is still doing its utmost to accomplish various tasks.About 100 million Chinese people have got rid of poverty in the past ten years.It is a great blessing to live in China.“If I had to introduce China in one sentence,I would say,‘If you want to see the future,go to China! ’ ”

可是，如何才能吸引更多外國人來中國呢？哈萊認為，中國媒體近年來，在加快推進媒體深度融合，無論是報道數(shù)量還是報道形式多樣化，都在不斷豐富。但是，在講好中國故事的過程中，為了讓中國媒體的報道更吸引人，必須在語言的表達方式上下功夫。中國人有中國人的說話方式，外國人有外國人的說話方式，而說話方式是由思維方式來決定的。她建議，如果能在中國同事撰寫文章的基礎(chǔ)上，由外國人按照外國讀者的閱讀習(xí)慣來重新編寫，可能更容易被外國讀者接受。所以改稿時她不斷地提醒自己“阿語的人會如何表達這個意思”。

她認為，報道要學(xué)會多講“中國故事”，鮮活、感人的故事最能吸引人，特別是專注于中國現(xiàn)實生活中的故事和成功經(jīng)驗。中國的減貧奇跡不僅使全中國人民享受改革發(fā)展成果，還對推動世界減貧進程有著重要意義。中國實現(xiàn)了第一個百年奮斗目標，這不光有事實、有數(shù)據(jù)，背后肯定有很多鮮活的故事，世界上很多人都會關(guān)注。目前，在“一帶一路”倡議下，中國在埃及有許多重大項目投資。同時也有許多較小的項目，更貼近埃及普通民眾的生活。例如，在埃及，有一個埃及年輕技術(shù)員在一家中國人開的電子公司工作，這家中國公司培養(yǎng)他提升技能，這使他和家人的生活改善了很多，因此這家中國企業(yè)在當?shù)厣鐓^(qū)很受歡迎。他的父親說：“我為自己的兒子在這家中國公司工作感到驕傲。”多報道這樣反映中國幫助其他國家人民實現(xiàn)發(fā)展、改善生活的故事，更能產(chǎn)生好的傳播效果。

說到對未來的打算或者期待，哈萊說，她要用手中的筆讓中東地區(qū)乃至整個世界更多的受眾認識中國、了解中國、喜愛中國。

從哈萊家里走出來，已近黃昏。夕陽灑在河面上，像無數(shù)的金子在閃爍，像深情的目光在跳躍。世間如此美好，讓我與一位埃及女子相遇，在她的故事中，我感受到深深的幸福。她最后說的這句話“一個人可以出生在一個國家，也可以愛上另一個國家。我正在辦永久居留，我想加入中國共產(chǎn)黨”，就像河面上那明亮的微光一直在我的腦海里搖來搖去。

However,how can we attract more foreigners to China? Hala believes that Chinese media has been accelerating media integration,and the number of reports and diversiflcation of reporting forms is constantly enriched.However,in telling a China story well,to make Chinese media reports more attractive,efforts must be made in the way of language expression.Chinese people and foreigners,respectively,have their manner of speaking,and their way of thinking determines their way of saying.She suggested that it might be easier to be accepted by foreign readers if foreigners revised the articles according to the reading habits of foreign readers based on the articles written by Chinese colleagues.So she kept reminding herself when editing the article,“How would an Arabic speaker convey this meaning?”

She believes the reporting should learn to tell more “China stories.”Vivid and touching stories are the most attractive,especially those focusing on real-life stories and successful experiences in China.China’s miracle of poverty reduction has not only enabled all Chinese people to enjoy the fruits of reform and development.Still,it has also been of great signiflcance in promoting the process of poverty reduction in the world.China has achieved its flrst 100-year goal.During the procedure,many facts and flgures exist,but also vivid stories will be of great interest to everyone worldwide.At present,under the Belt and Road Initiative,China has many signiflcant investments in Egypt and also many smaller projects that are closer to the lives of ordinary Egyptians.For example,in Egypt,a young Egyptian technician works for a Chineseowned electronics company that has trained him to upgrade his skills,dramatically improving his life and that of his family.The Chinese company is top-rated in the local community.His father said,“I am proud that my son works for this Chinese company.” More stories that reflect China’s efforts to help people in other countries develop and improve their lives are more likely to have sound communication effects.

When it comes to her plans or expectations,Hala said she wanted to make more audiences in the Middle East and the whole world know China,understand China,and love China through her revision.

It was almost dusk when I walked out of Hala’s house.The sunset sprinkled on the river,like countless gold glittering or affectionate eyes twinkling.The world is so beautiful that I met an Egyptian woman and felt deep happiness in her story.Her words,“One can be born in one country and fall in love with another.I am in the process of getting a permanent residence,and I want to join the Communist Party of China”,just like the bright shimmering light on the river haunt my memory.
