東灘濕地位于崇明島最東端的長(zhǎng)江入海口，是咸淡水結(jié)合的河口型潮汐灘涂濕地，處于全球鳥類八大遷徙路線之一的“東亞—澳大利亞”路線中段，是亞太地區(qū)遷徙水鳥的重要通道，也是世界最重要的野生鳥類集居、棲息地之一。為了修復(fù)由1990 年代引進(jìn)的用于固灘的外來入侵物種互花米草引起的濕地生態(tài)惡化問題，上海崇明東灘鳥類國(guó)家級(jí)自然保護(hù)區(qū)于2013 年啟動(dòng)了滅除互花米草的生態(tài)控制與鳥類棲息地優(yōu)化工程，并于2019 年全面完工。與之配套的科研宣教中心是科研監(jiān)測(cè)、鳥類環(huán)志、管護(hù)執(zhí)法、科普教育的重要工作平臺(tái)，承擔(dān)著宣傳和展示生態(tài)環(huán)保理念、促進(jìn)對(duì)外交流合作等功能。

Located at the easternmost end of Chongming Island at the mouth of the Yangtze River,Dongtan Wetland is an estuarian tidal mudflat wetland combining salt and fresh water.This wetland sits on the middle of "East Asia -Australia" route which is known as one of the eight migration routes for birds worldwide.As a very important migration corridor for waterfowl in the Asian-Pacific region,Dongtan Wetland also becomes one of the most significant gathering places and habitats for wild birds.In the 1990s,an invasive plant spartina alterniflora was introduced to reinforce the tidal flat,which then result in the ecological deterioration of the wetland.To deal with the issue,Shanghai Chongming Dongtan National Nature Reserve started ecological control on spartina alterniflora and environment optimization of bird habitats in 2013.The whole project was completed in 2019.As a supporting facility of this project,the Research and Education Centre was built as an important platform of scientific research and monitoring,bird banding,conservation and law enforcement,and science education.Moreover,the Centre undertakes the functions of promoting and displaying ecological and environmental protection concepts as well as promoting worldwide cooperation and exchange.
