HOST: Hi, welcome to the show. Today we’re looking at great inventions for the future. What really useful inventions do you think we need? People have been called in to the show to tell us their ideas. First up we have Alan. Hi, Alan!
ALAN: Hi.
HOST: Tell us about what invention you’d like to see.
ALAN: I think the most important invention we need is a new kind of car engine that doesn’t need petrol. Imagine a world with clean cars and no more pollution to worry about! I’m sure it’ll be invented in two years. We already have electric cars, but I think it’ll be something different, maybe something like a car that runs on air. I’m sure someone will invent something to solve the problem. I hope so, anyway.
HOST: Thanks, Alan. That’s a great invention. Next on the line we have Karl. Karl, tell us about your invention.
KARL: Hi, well, one really useful invention will be man-made meat as it’s cheap and tastes good. It sounds like science fiction, but in fact they’ve already invented it in a way. Actually, they’ve produced beef in a laboratory, but it costs thousands of pounds to make one kilogramme of it. But that’s the same with all new inventions; they’re always expensive at the start. So, I think it’ll happen and it’ll be really good, because all the fields we use to grow food for cows can be used for something else—to grow vegetables or plant trees, for example.
HOST: Thanks, Karl. Artificial meat! Cool. I love that invention more! Thanks for those great ideas. Who knows which of them will happen! We can only wait and see.

The tiger is the largest of the Asian big cats and can be found in a wide range of habitats, from the forests of Southeast Asia to the woodlands of the far east of Russia and the swamps (沼澤地) in India and Bangladesh.
The characteristic striped skin patterns differ from one tiger to another and from one side of the animal’s body to the other. In fact, there are no tigers with identical markings. Males have a characteristic lengthened hairs around the neck, which is especially noticeable in the Sumatran tiger.
Tigers prey mainly on deers and wild pigs and the tigers typically hunts alone. They have homes in caves, tree hollows and dense vegetation. They mostly come out at night, but in the more northern areas Siberian Tigers may also be active during the day in winter. Using its senses of sight and hearing rather than smell, the tiger follows its prey, and once it is within easy reach attacks from the side or rear and kills its prey by a bite to the neck or the back of the head.
However, the tiger is one of the Earth’s fastest disappearing species. A hundred years ago, there were about 100,000 wild tigers. Today there are fewer than 2,500. Originally, there were nine different species of tiger—three of these are now extinct. The six remaining tiger species all have very shaky futures.

The Tiger is the largest of Asian big cats and can be found in a wide range of habitats, from forests of Southeast Asia to the woodlands of the far east of Russia and the swamps in India and Bangladesh. a wide range意為“范圍廣泛,很多”,據(jù)此分析,此空應(yīng)填habitats。
