插頭崖游客中心是秦嶺國家植物園深度體驗(yàn)區(qū)的入口。場(chǎng)地位于插頭崖壁對(duì)岸的河畔臺(tái)地，在保留的綠林里，部分老建筑改造成服務(wù)中心，餐廳臨河， 茶室面崖， 盥洗室藏于竹林中。新舊建筑將河灘、崖壁、遠(yuǎn)山納入空間的布局，形成一個(gè)疏密有致的山水聚落。

黃土夯筑成墻，回收青瓦立砌成鋪裝景觀。銀灰色的金屬墻面與透明的玻璃幕墻輕盈現(xiàn)代。木紋清水混凝土的四季茶室成為水畔山林里的點(diǎn)睛之筆。傳統(tǒng)的材料，帶著時(shí)間的痕跡，與現(xiàn)代的材料構(gòu)成富有張力的聯(lián)系，是為山水自然中的人文表情。

在地性不應(yīng)被符號(hào)式的歷史文化所裹挾，也不應(yīng)簡(jiǎn)單地被冠以傳統(tǒng)化或鄉(xiāng)村化的風(fēng)貌。插頭崖游客中心正是用當(dāng)代的建筑方式去回應(yīng)秦嶺在地性的一次嘗試。

Chatouya Visitor Centre is located in Tianyu valley, 70 km away from Xi'an. It is the entrance to the in-depth experience zone of the Qinling National Botanical Garden. The site sits on a terrace with beautiful river and cliff scenery. Part of the old building is transformed into an exhibition & visitor centre. The restaurant faces the river, the tea room faces the cliff and the toilet is hidden in the bamboo forest. These new blocks, attached to the preserved buildings, incorporate the elements of nature into the layout of the space, creating a prototype of dense landscape settlement.

Local materials are re-used. For example, the earth is rammed into the walls, and recycled Chinese-style tiles made into pavements. The metal panels and transparent curtain walls give the fa?ade a modern and transparent look. Two tearooms cast in fair-faced concrete with wood formwork can be seen as the finishing touch in the natural environment. Traditional materials, with traces of time, form a tense connection with modern materials. Also, it provides a cultural expression for the new settlement in the landscape and nature.

Site-Specific characteristics should not be tied up in symbolic history and culture, nor should it be simply given an urban or rural style. Chatouya Visitor Centre is an attempt to respond to the Site-Specific characteristics of Qinling Mountains with a contemporary architectural approach.
