        Task 1

Social networking is constantly evolving.Gone are the days when MySpace ruled the Web.Now,practically everyone's gone mobile, with more than 95 percent of teenagers having a cell phone. They make the best of it by using the most popular social networking and messenger apps on the market.

You might think YouTube would be the granddaddy in this bunch, but you'd be wrong.YouTube is wildly popular with teens. YouTube added a strong influencer and vlogger base to what was once primarily a passive content consumption website, and the teens love it.In 2018,YouTube became the most popular social app among American 13-to 18-year-old teens.

Snapchat is a popular private messaging app known for photos and short videos that are automatically deleted after they're viewed. For teens,this“self-destructing”feature is a big part of what makes Snapchat so appealing, encouraging them to interact more frequently, safe in the knowledge that all their previous snaps disappear. Privacy and screenshot saving have posed some issues for Snapchat, but it remains one of the hottest apps with teens.

Facebook may have ruled social photo-sharing on the Web,but Instagram arguably rules over it on mobile devices.Although it doesn't openly share how many of its users are teens,it's not all that hard to see this mobile social platform is filled with them. All you have to do is check out the photos on the opening screen or search through some popular hashtags to get a glimpse of how young the dominant users truly is on Instagram. You can connect to your Instagram account through your computer,Android,or iOS device.

Lots of kids still use Facebook Messenger to get in touch with their friends, but Facebook also owns another messaging app called WhatsApp.WhatsApp had more than one million monthly active users as of late 2017,and they're not just using the texting feature. WhatsApp also lets you post status updates, send videos, share your location, and make voice and video calls over the Internet.

1.Which of the following apps is the least popular among teens?

        A.Facebook. B.MySpace.C.YouTube. D.WhatsApp.

2.What may be the main reason why the teens love Snapchat so much?

A.It has the most users in America.B.It can be used on Android or iOS device.C.It gives its users a higher sense of security.D.It's specially designed for American 13-to 18-year-old teens.

3.What do Facebook and Instagram have in common?

A.They have the same number of users.B.They both stand out in sharing photos.C.They both aim at serving the teens.D.They both download photos at high speed.

A.Some hottest social app trends among teens.B.Different choices for various apps.C.Why teenagers choose different apps.D.How using social media affects teenagers.

        Task 2

Tips for using social media sites safely

While social networking sites are great for keeping in touch and making new friends, they're also a tool for anyone looking to harvest personal information.Follow our top social networking tips to help safeguard your privacy.

        ●Don't overshare.

You had better avoid giving details of upcoming holidays.Criminals (罪犯)search social networks to find empty houses to steal. So for that reason, when you're away, try to resist sharing holiday snaps. In general, don't post personal details, such as your phone number or home address.

        ●It's not a popularity contest.

Many websites and apps give you the option to “Log in with Facebook”,rather than creating a separate account. But by doing this, your social network may share all the information it holds about you, including the date and place of your birth, your email address and employment details, along with photos.Furthermore, with just one log-in for multiple sites,if one site is hacked, then all your accounts are at risk too.

        ●Use strong passwords.

You've heard it again and again—use a separate password for each social account.Make it at least eight digits long and a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols. So to get round it,and avoid having a massive tome filled with passwords, you could devise yourself a code only you know.

        A.Don't link accounts.

B.Don't accept every friend or follower request you get.

C.Create a separate email account to use with each social network.

D.You generally want to avoid anything being open to public view.

E.Avoid posting photos of your home that make it easy to identify where you live.

F.You probably don't use separate passwords because passwords are hard to remember.

G.Sharing too much information on a social network may leave you at risk of identity theft.

        Task 3

I opened the big steel door to the school's front office. My hands were a bit;my throat and tongue felt. It was the first day of school. No,not for me as a student, but rather, for me as a first-time reading teacherwith AARP’s Experience Corps program.

The program helps first through third graderstheir reading fluency and accuracy. I'm so proud to be part of such a worthwhile educational.I was most proud of the kids I taught throughout the 2016-2017year.

Throughout the year,as we read andto higher level books,I got to know each student on a more personal. Most importantly, the program is. The students were tested throughout the year, and results showed that they were making progress in their reading.I hope I played at least a small part in their academic. When I first volunteered to teach,I was a bit.I had no teaching, but I found out that you don't need any.All you need is a willingness to give of yourself and ato work one-on-one with these children who sowant to please you.

When it came time to say goodbye to my kids, one little boy had tearsin his eyes.Tears rolled down my face. What a different—and wonderful—physical and emotionalcompared to the first day I walked through those school doors.
