政治文獻(xiàn)中，經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)“大局”一詞。英文版《習(xí)近平談治國(guó)理政》是如何處理這一關(guān)鍵詞的呢？

原文：堅(jiān)持從中華民族整體利益的高度把握兩岸關(guān)系大局。

譯文：We must firmly handle cross-Straits relations in the overall interests of the Chinese nation.

點(diǎn)評(píng)：質(zhì)言之，“兩岸關(guān)系大局”即“兩岸關(guān)系”，譯文中的省略雖顯意外，但也在情理之中。那么，“保持兩岸關(guān)系大局穩(wěn)定”之英文自然也就如出一轍了：keep cross-Straits relations stable。

原文：統(tǒng)籌國(guó)內(nèi)國(guó)際兩個(gè)大局

譯文：a holistic approach to both the domestic and international situations

點(diǎn)評(píng)：其實(shí)“大局”倒是容易想到對(duì)應(yīng)之英文situation，只是在英文中如何照顧搭配關(guān)系，才是翻譯時(shí)的重點(diǎn)。此處將動(dòng)賓關(guān)系的漢語(yǔ)短語(yǔ)處理為名詞短語(yǔ)，正是考慮到其上下文關(guān)系。再如：做好外交工作，胸中要裝著國(guó)內(nèi)國(guó)際兩個(gè)大局。To do good diplomatic work， we must keep our eye on the situation both at home and abroad.英文中的keep an eye on sth表示continue to give attention to what is the most important，用它表示“胸中要裝著”可謂妥帖。不過(guò)，一切譯文時(shí)刻要因地制宜，比如下例。

原文：胸懷大局，把握大勢(shì)

譯文：bear the big picture in mind and keep in line with the trends

點(diǎn)評(píng)：偶爾務(wù)虛，以虛譯虛，亦未嘗不可。

原文：樹(shù)立大局觀念和全局意識(shí)

譯文：develop a holistic view

點(diǎn)評(píng)：為示強(qiáng)調(diào)，中文經(jīng)常連續(xù)使用同義詞語(yǔ)，比如，此處的“大局觀念”與“全局意識(shí)”，英譯時(shí)，宜適時(shí)省略，此一例也。

原文：堅(jiān)持從大局出發(fā)考慮問(wèn)題。

譯文：We must put the interests of the state first when make deliberations.

點(diǎn)評(píng)：此處“大局”顯然指國(guó)家利益，故有斯譯。本書(shū)另一文中，習(xí)總書(shū)記談及工人階級(jí)“識(shí)大體、顧大局的光榮傳統(tǒng)”，概系同義，因而英文近似：the glorious tradition of acting in the overall interests of the country。至此，“服務(wù)大局”的英文，讀者諸君當(dāng)也了然于胸了？
