中國(guó)園林博物館建筑面積49,950m2，是全國(guó)第一座以園林為主題的國(guó)家級(jí)博物館，以“中國(guó)園林——我們的理想家園”為建館理念，博物館的建設(shè)旨在展示和傳承博大精深的中國(guó)園林藝術(shù)，弘揚(yáng)優(yōu)秀的傳統(tǒng)文化，成為國(guó)家園林教育、文化交流與科普宣傳的窗口。中國(guó)園林博物館的使用功能包括展覽、會(huì)議、教育、辦公、科研。博物館內(nèi)部共擁有6個(gè)固定展廳和4個(gè)臨時(shí)展廳以及“暢園”“片石山房”“余蔭山房”3個(gè)等比例復(fù)建的室內(nèi)展園。設(shè)計(jì)基于對(duì)項(xiàng)目立意的深入思考，對(duì)中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)建筑語(yǔ)素進(jìn)行了提煉和引用，使博物館成為一座現(xiàn)代的、同時(shí)帶有中式韻味的建筑?！?/p>

The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture is the very first National museum in China on the subject. Taking "Chinese Gardens- Our Ideal Home" as its core philosophy, with construction area of 49,950m2, the museum sets out a mission to showcase and pass down the artistic and cultural heritage of Chinese Garden and Landscape Architecture. It is to become a national centre for education, cultural exchange and scientific research.Its programme includes exhibition halls, conference rooms, classrooms, offices and research facilities.The museum contains 6 permanent exhibitions,4 temporary exhibition halls, and three full scale replicas of Chinese gardens: "Chang Yuan (Carefree Garden)", "Pianshi Shanfang (Mountain House of Sliced Stone)", "Yuyin Shanfang (Mountain House of Ancestors’ Blessings)". Through a deep understanding of the project's intention, the architects reinterprets the languages of traditional Chinese architecture, to create modern museum with Chinese essence.□
