1912 年，美國建筑師霍華德·肖設(shè)計了首座被稱為Ragdale Ring 的花園劇場（A Garden Theatre）。為了紀(jì)念這位偉大的建筑師，更為了激發(fā)建筑與藝術(shù)的創(chuàng)造力，Ragdale 藝術(shù)基金會從2013 年開始連續(xù)舉辦了6 次主題為“Ragdale Ring”的設(shè)計國際競賽。競賽要求參賽者在原址80ft × 80ft 范圍內(nèi)的草坪上設(shè)計一處不少于150 座的室外花園劇場，為一個月的觀演活動提供臨時場所。朱文一工作室提交了題為“MemoRing”的設(shè)計方案。

首先，方案“MemoRing”是一塊將影像觀看效率最大化的屏幕，建筑大師肖恩的作品和Ragdale 基金會的歷史等影像都可以在此播放（圖1）。因此，方案“MemoRing”也可以理解為歷史影像的“記憶環(huán)”，同時也呼應(yīng)了1912 年的Ragdale 環(huán)（圖2—圖4）。

第二，方案“MemoRing”采用懸浮空中的結(jié)構(gòu)，既提供了盡可能大的舞臺，又創(chuàng)造了一種新的劇場空間形式。在兩周的活動期間，這塊直徑45ft 的圓形裝置可以用于看電影、現(xiàn)場秀、派對及音樂會等多種形式的開放空間（圖5—圖7）。

第三，380 個氦氣球固定在45°傾斜的圓形裝置上，以3 根鋼絲與地面連接，創(chuàng)造了懸浮空中的“MemoRing”輕盈、精致的形象。此外，“MemoRing”可以根據(jù)氣候變化、觀演需要等靈活調(diào)節(jié)其高低和角度（圖8）。

第四，方案“MemoRing”運(yùn)用成熟技術(shù)，有很強(qiáng)的現(xiàn)實可操作性。其預(yù)算為14,800 美元，包括7,200 美元的氣球，4,900 美元氦氣罐，1,300美元屏幕和放映設(shè)備等。5～10 人可以在幾天內(nèi)安裝“MemoRing”裝置（圖9）。

第五，設(shè)計場地位于芝加哥以北30mi 的森林湖（Lake Forest）地區(qū)，自然環(huán)境極其優(yōu)美。針對這樣的郊野環(huán)境，方案“MemoRing”構(gòu)想的懸浮在空中的斜置圓形裝置，實現(xiàn)了對環(huán)境的最小干擾。

方案“MemoRing”充分考慮了谷歌地球上從萬能視角、谷歌3D 到谷歌街景全方位、多層次的視覺體驗（圖10）。

In 1912, American architect Howard Van Doren Shaw designed the firstA Garden Theatrecalled the Ragdale Ring. To commemorate this great architect and to inspire creativity in architecture and art, the Ragdale Foundation has hosted six international competitions for the theme of "Ragdale Ring" since 2013. The competition required participants to design an outdoor garden theater of no less than 150 seats on the lawn within 80ft×80ft of the original site, providing a temporary space for a month performance. ZHUWENYI Atelier submitted a design proposal entitled “MemoRing”.First, the proppsal "MemoRing" is also a screen that maximizes the efficiency of image viewing (Figure 1). The works of architect Shaw and the history of the Ragdale Foundation can be played here. Therefore, the proppsal "MemoRing" can also be understood as the "memory ring" of historical images, and also echoes the 1912 Ragdale ring (Figure 2-4).

Second, the proppsal “MemoRing” uses a suspended air structure that provides both the largest possible stage and a new form of theater space. During the month event, the 45ft diameter circular installation can be used to watch movies, live shows, parties and concerts in a variety of open spaces (Figure 5-7).

Thirdly, 380 helium balloons were fixed on a 45° inclined circular installation and connected with the ground with 3 wires to create a light and delicate image of the "MemoRing" in the suspended air. In addition, "MemoRing" can flexibly adjust its height and angle according to climate change and viewing needs (Figure 8).

Fourth, the proposal "MemoRing" uses mature technology and has strong practical operability. The budget is $14,800, including $7,200 for balloons, $4,900 for helium tanks, $1,300 for screens and projection equipment. 5 to 10 people can install the “MemoRing” installation in a few days (Figure 9).Fifth, the design site is located in the Lake Forest , 30 miles north of the city of Chicago. The natural environment is extremely beautiful. For such a wild environment, the proposal "MemoRing" envisions an oblique circular installation suspended in the air to achieve minimal interference to the environment (Figure 10).

The proposal "MemoRing" fully considers the all-dimensional, multi-level visual experience on Google Earth from a God's eye view, Google 3D to Google Street View.
